Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

gb009761, Well done on reaching Blue applause
You already have a Red for HPF2 , perhaps you will get a green before the project finishes?

It's quite possible - especially that now, through redundancy, I've had to give my works laptop back, thus necessitating me purchasing my own machine (the first one I've actually owned since a '286' back in the late '80's'). This one, is far more powerful than the one I had, being an i7 with 4 cores biggrin

Before I go and stretch for the really big targets though, I'm pushing my HCC (initially), and then HCMD2 up to Ruby - that is, whilst waiting for another 18 days' worth of DDDT2 (so as to reach Gold) and for the Windows version of CEP2 (along with any other new projects) to start cool Then, of course, there's hopefully, a few Beta WU's to pick up and crunch - as I'm only 8 hrs over the bronze badge for that... Oh, decisions, decisions... laughing

applause Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

Well, after a very, very long time, I'm now able to produce the following stats;
FightAIDS@Home 913,008 1,753 2:000:04:13:24 which results in a badge biggrin

It'll be a very long time (if ever) before I achieve another crying
Well done gb009761! Your first sapphire. Congratulations! applause

You'll eventually get another. Pick one of the projects expected to last a long time.

Cheers coffee

Do you know how to tell which projects will last a long time? I recall there used to be a graph, but it seems to be discontinued...

Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

My personal opinion is that HPF and FAAH will last very long.

Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

Although people can make guesses as to what date the projects will end, even the scientists don't know exactly; at the last minute they might require to do more runs, the project might run into problems, the introduction of new projects could changes the expected finishing time, as could two or three big crunching teams coming onboard, or outside influences (logistical or financial).
Presently the FA@H project is at 71% and the HPFP2 project is at an estimated 67% complete. These are still expected to run well into 2012. So plenty of time to get badges. HCC is at 39% and its presently anticipated this will finish in June 2011. Similarly HCMD2 is at 30% and might finish around Dec 2011. The CEP2 has just started and is still well under 1% complete. DDDT2 is intermittent and should run for a long time yet (perhaps its about 2% complete)
I would expect another Influenza project in the autumn/winter. The last was short, and by its nature this one would be too.
HFCC is expected to start up again sometime this year, but only to run for a couple of months.
Note. These are real ball-park figures - approximations, probably wont be exact, and are definitely subject to change. However they might give you enough to go on to decide what badge to crunch for and when. You should also note that towards the end of a project, all remaining tasks can suddenly be gobbled up very quickly by large crunching teams. So, better to reach your goal a bit early, than not.
To give you some sort of idea how accurate/inaccurate guessing the finish times can be, below are different peoples estimates of completion times that I jotted down around Feb, then April, followed by the most recent ones I could find (today).
NRW - - - Jun 2010 - Apr 2010 - Finished in Apr
HFCC - - Jun 2011 - Nov 2010 - Nov 2010
DDDT2 - - - - - - - - Sep 2010 - in 2011 (my guess)
HCMD2 - Sep 2014 - Dec 2011 - Dec 2011
HCC - - - Oct 2013 - Dec 2011 - Jun 2011
HPF2 - -- Nov 2010 - Jun 2011 - Dec 2012
FA@H - - Sep 2011 - Jun 2011 - Dec 2012
CEP2 - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - in 2011 (my guess)
Flu2? - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - in 2011 (my guess)

Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

Thanks skgiven. That helps a lot. Sounds like HFCC and HCMD2 are the the closest to completion, badge hunters should priortise them if they can make it in time. I was at emerald when HFCC ran out of units, hope there will be enough chance to reach saphire when it restarts. In the mean time, all focus for me is on FA@H!

The problem you may have is that if it restarts as HFCC2 (like for clean energy) then the runtimes will not be cumulative. You may not reach the sapphire badge on HFCC but you get the opportunity to have another one. It all depends if you hunt new badges or colors. biggrin
Frankly I do not know how it will continue. thinking

Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

[OT] Last I read HFCC would just startup for a couple of months to run another set of tasks, to augment the projects data. New projects tend to be about 6months minimum.[/OT]

It is still around on this page, item 18. There are 2 links; the second link is the one you want.

Cheers coffee
