Re: Forum Issues - Please post here

In another thread, adrianxw said:

When you move your mouse pointer over the text in the buttons along the top of forum pages, Home, About Us, etc., the pointer icon chamges from the regular arrow to an I beam rather then a "click me". The row below, Index, Recent Threads, etc., works correctly. Clicking still works, just the wrong tool displayed.

Minor impact in the scheme of things.

Sekerob replied:

What Browser/OS?

When doing that the mouser pointer changes for me to a index finger indicating somethings there to click.

Maybe something on the ToDO list, same functionality as that now provided on all pages except the forum with the pop up menu's.

Anyway, this thread http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,26687 collates all issues with the new forum software.

I see the same thing as adrianxw.

I am using IE 8 and XP.

Re: Forum Issues - Please post here

I am using IE 8 and XP.

Under XP3 I have just started one, version 8.0.6001.18702, plain install (I never use it, unless such circumstances) and I do not see anything abnormal.

Exceptionally the cursor is the arrow during one tenth of a second before showing the hand as expected, but it is
- only just after displaying a new page (but not always, very seldom indeed)
- very short as I said
- only once per page.

That's what I see.
Any particular setting of your own (Deb or Adrian)?

Edit: I had forgotten the quote

Re: Forum Issues - Please post here

Yes Jean, but if the forum software checks my system time and adds the hour in the winter time based on GMT correction, why is it no longer doing so in summer? It used to before the move.

Anyway, it's one of these things to resign to and just adjust it manually 2x per year... why else have we got computers ;>)

The forum software simply stores the time offset in the database. It doesn't actually store the timezone information. The servers run in UTC which does not honor daylight savings time. As a result, as different parts of the world move in and out of daylight savings time, they are shifted by an hour. Not the design I would have used, but there it is. We will take a look at fixing it sometime, but it is a relatively small impact for relatively large amount of work so it will be low on the list.

>>> What Browser/OS?

IE 8 and XP as debsgr8. The cursor needs to be over the text rather then anywhere in the button.

OK, I see what you mean. Except that for me it does it in the website pages and NOT in the forum pages?!? Strange...

Also, it must be noted that the whole button's surface is active (at least for me), even when the cursor is not displayed correctly.

Another puzzle for the Techs...

We are tracking this also. This is likely to a be a small item so we will dig into it sooner.

Re: Forum Issues - Please post here

Yes, the whole button responds to clicks, the erroneous pointer appears only over the text. As I said, a relatively trivial thing.

Re: Forum Issues - Please post here

I am trying to find out if there is a way a member can see all of the threads in the different threads to which we have posted a reply. The forum, thread, and date of last post would be very helpful to have. Although I have WCG running 24x7, I don't get to the forums very often and I would like to have some way to remind me of the forums I have made a post to so I can review the activity from time to time.

Thanks for any help.
