Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

I didn't get through all of the links he had, so maybe I didn't get to the funny ones... I kind of just got to the point where I wanted to watch a video of someone raking their fingernails down a chalkboard instead.
Maybe it's my ADD kicking in...

Also...
Not that I've ever written one, but, for some reason, the use of the word "presumably" in a scientific document makes me cringe.

Edit: I was trying to make a funny there... but being at work limits ones ability to succeed at such things...

Hi Gerald I'm still out here kicking and crunching

Just V busy

You won't like this but here's a masterclass in "Green washing" it is unbelievable that this link still works

http://www.tepco.co.jp/en/challenge/environ/pdf2010/hl10_00.pdf

It might make you feel uncomfortable, it might make you turn away from your monitor, it might make you cry, it might make you irate, it might make you utter the odd expletive, it might make you think "I have to actively do something to stop this nonsense".

Whatever your response folks at least it made you contemplate our life and our universe

and that's all I can ask for

Be brave

Only you can make it a great day

Dave

Low exposure to the Nagasaki atomic blast resulted in longer lifespans--- http://opinion.financialpost.com/2011/03/21/l...ill-benefit-studies-show/

I think the key quote here is: “Among about 100,000 A-bomb survivors registered at Nagasaki University School of Medicine, male subjects exposed to 31-40 cGy [centigrays] showed significantly lower mortality from non-cancerous diseases than age-matched unexposed males,”

Lower Mortality from non-cancerous diseases. I may be wrong, but I think the latest theory on cancer is that most cancers are caused by multiple changes (errors, mutations) in chromosomes.

I'd be interested to know what the mortality level of cancerous diseases is for the people exposed.

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

baselining the global thermometer continues

after ~ 5,788,800 individual hourly temperature measurements from 2680ish NOAA land based weather stations around the globe we get these average figures so far

Jan 2011 1.44C
Feb 2011 2.90C
March 2011 6.98C

good point well made stwainer

http://www.magnoxnorthsites.com/news/2011-03-01/continued-generation-at-oldbury

That's OK it's only been running for 44 years

Here's a picture of it being built

http://www.magnoxnorthsites.com/UserFiles/Image/imagelibrary/Oldbury/32.jpg

and no that picture hasn't been artificially aged in photoshop that really is 1964 hypnotized

This one of it being built has an horrendously familiar look about it
