Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

One year ago this week, Joe Romm declared that the southwest permanent drought had begun. Dust Storm Marks Beginning of Southwest's "Permanent Drought" | The Energy Collective This important story from Joe Romm deserves an update - avert your eyes if you are squeamish or easily upset. The official report

http://naiic.go.jp/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/NAIIC_report_lo_res.pdf

It must be remembered that the Fukushima crisis hasn't been brought to a conclusion

Also this is the official report. I wonder about the actual truth.

After Chernobyl the official report says 64 dead by 2008 here's a different opinion http://www.chernobylreport.org/torch.pdf

...and when it's colder than average like it is in the UK and across Europe what is it then ?

Weather that's what it is. That's what we are told when we are shovelling snow and scraping the ice off the car windows

Granted 2011-2012 has been a warm year I have the evidence to prove this is the case at www.theglobalthermometer.com

But in 12 months time do you think central USA will be experiencing the same conditions?

If you want to take a leaf out of the UK experience in February we were - allegedly - in the grip of the worst drought since 1976. I can assure you that 5 months later that is no longer the case.

It's Summer in the Northern Hemisphere - we in the UK think this is a tall tale at the moment - and guess what? It's hotter than average and the North Polar Ice Cap is melting and wild fires rage (mostly accidentally started by Human's and increased in intensity due to lack of forest management) but all of these things are perfectly natural and normal at this time of year

The land based Globe (with the majority being in the Northern Hemisphere) will continue to warm until the beginning of August whereupon it will miraculously cool again.

ain't that always the way

no comment

Remember that Australian Businesses are not allowed to declare how much the cost of a service/product has increased on account of the Carbon Tax

Don't believe me

which prompts this kind of response

According to the measured temperature data from USHCN, 1921 was the hottest year in US history. There were 654,134 temperature measurements taken that year around the country - and according to James Hansen every single one of them was incorrect and needed to be adjusted downwards - a lot. So what do we know about 1921? We know [...] http://stevengoddard.wordpress.com/2012/07/09...ttest-year-in-us-history/

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Sek it's not the June Snow cover anomaly that causes us the problem in the Northern Hemisphere - along with the fact that in June the literal sample (snow) size is so much smaller so the variance is that much greater

It's the December, Jan, Feb, March values which are of real interest

2008 Jan 2nd out of 46 (3rd greatest snow cover overall)
2011 Jan 6th out of 46 (8th overall)
2010 Jan 7th out of 46 10th overall)
2010 Feb 3rd out of 46 (9th overall)
2012 Feb 8th out of 46
2009 Dec 2nd out of 46
2010 Dec 4th out of 46
2011 March 8th out of 46

... should I go on?

Cherry picking lack of snow cover in the middle of the NH Summer to make a point ... not wise - not with the reality we are all too aware of above

Who says “global warming” doesn’t have some positive value? Well I guess if you are a tofu chomping green that recoils at the thought of eating lobster, you wouldn’t see this in a positive light, but many people do. http://wattsupwiththat.com/2012/07/09/no-balo...es-a-largesse-of-lobster/
