Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

What an appropriate poem "Said Hanrahan" as I really don't think it will rain this month. I have less than five hours to go where I reside and anyone in Europe is already in May. The time for California is DST to account for the hour of difference.

Few look at the Crunching charts and even fewer read what the lines and bars tell. For those, here some crunching numbers, the mission to determine from this where the C-Type returns merge into the A-Type [the last flash-rain]. Look at the run times, look at the dates and one might conclude that there are not an insignificant number that ran out of time [no reply], generating 3rd copies, and probably the no-reply still coming. The thoughts over this could cause a watershed of tears.

Now ask yourself the question [the answer not original]: Why does it take so long before the B-C types can be generated and scientists to wait, off from tasks that have an 8 day deadline?

My full seconding of the prior proposal: 1 per core In Progress assignment same as Beta for the A/B-Type. It's not about badges... it's about volunteering to help complete science!

Sadly though, v.v. other cache discussions, it's not that easy. WCG has many customizations in place which are not easily portable into new releases of server software, then few days ago learning that the in progress control has not been finished in development over at Berkeley, where Dr. Anderson this week posted: "Convince me to finish it".

The latest BOINC server code provides for
per-application limits on in-progress jobs,
in-progress GPU jobs, and jobs returned per RPC.

However, this hasn't been tested and the implementation may not be finished.
If anyone really needs it, convince me to finish it.

Maybe knreed should pitch in a word too in that thread or off-line. I'm all for it.

This Sun blazing down Saturday, think there's more salty rain to come... but research has shown this also flushes some excess hormones, so it will pass :D

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

I agree that 1 per core in progress might be a good thing for this project also.

honestly i am up for almost anything that will help speed this process along until we can get a slightly more steady work from this project.

Ouch! That hurts.
My post was peaceful and with humor. It seems we do not share the same sense of humor. Don't bother no harm done. biggrin

Ah, yes and you are just another lowly average cruncher doing the typical 400,000+ POINTS PER DAY. Enough of the false humility.

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

Each of us can do a lot. And allways try to surpass ourselves. Maybe 400'000 today and why not maybe 600'000 tomorrow. That's excellent and for a good cause. But we have to allways remain humble and be conscious of our limits. Because there will be allways someone that will come and do much more, and it is good that it is so.
Hats down for MrKermit.
