Re: Still no Wu's...

It is raining B-Types now. Lets catch some ;-)

15 cores checking all day did not see any here. Must have been a few re-issues.

You´re right. You´re not the only one. This project slowly but surely disappoints me. Not for the common cruncher I guess.

Just one word to those who suck the available jobs: YOU WANT MEDALS, BADGES......JOIN THE ARMY

Darnit, this project really starts to blow ! If this continues, I´ll go back to some more JUST project

There are five other worthwhile projects at WCG. I'm workin' on HCC.75 years worth in a couple days.Plenty of work to do.

Re: Still no Wu's...

This is the pits. I am going to reduce the work held in my cache to one day (currently four). I have gotten two WUs both sent on 3/23 and completed on 3/28 due to the work I had going for Rice. I have gotten the Sapphire badge for Rice so I want to concentrate at least one machine on using a smaller cache to see if I can get some of the DDDT2 work.

Point#1. The project is INTERMITTENT, so there is NOT a steady flow of DDDT2 WU. Stated differently, there might not be any WU to download at the time you want some.

Point#2. The project is now .5% (1/2 of 1%) complete, meaning that the project is barely started. Stated differently, there is far more to come thatn what we have seen.

Point#3. THere will be crunchers who stop DDDT2 when they reach their goal. Stated differently, some large crunchers will opt out of DDDT2 in the future.

The Techs are doing what they can. Take a PILL and quit yer bellyaching. There are still about 22 million DDDT2 WU to go.

Re: Still no Wu's...

Just check this project and one other, keep your cashe to 1 days work, and keep an eye out for when they release the mother load. Then dedicate it to this project. Just a suggestion.

Re: Still no Wu's...

I got 11 WUs between 23rd and 27th of March. Nine are already valid and 2 are PV. That gives me just half a day of CPU time, so the bronze badge is very far, far away.

I guess someday in the near future there'll be a normal flow of WU's like in the other projects, we just need to have some patience.

Re: Still no Wu's...

heck ive been set to dddt2 since the project started....
got bout 60 wus lasting less than hour each....didnt even get 10 days cpu time....
i have reliable fast machines....and quite a few of them....

Same boat here and I've got decent machines too.

If someone is hogging them perhaps it's time to limit how many a person can get.

How on earth can anyone justify a 10day cache legitimately? I don't even bother considering such conduct if it is indeed possible.

I've tried going in and setting my projects to just Dengue but then when I forget to change it back to including HCMD the machines run out of work. sad

Re: Still no Wu's...

I set this project and HCC. I just got 2 more. A short one and a long one. They are limited but the other project get attention while waiting for DDDT2. Hopefully they will ramp up soon. Like was mentioned prior, we have to be patient.

Re: Still no Wu's...

I understand that the bottom line is that it is all about the science & looked at in a cold logical way, I'm glad that the work for the scientists is getting done.

That said however, the fiasco that is DDD2 really sucks. My computers over the years have proven themselves reliable (as a glance to the left of this post will show) & while they aren't the latest & greatest top of the line machines, guess what, they work for me & what I ask them to do in everything other than grid work.

That point is very important & one in which the WCG techs need to read over & over. To many, many of the volunteers here there is no need/reason to have the latest & greatest fastest machine available. For WCG to make a big deal about adding a new project, to the point of emailing everyone involved announcing it, but not having work available for everyone really is a kick in the gut. Then to look into it further & find that pretty much the only way to get any of the few work units available is to have a top of the line machine pretty much dedicated 24/7 to grid work, the kick in the gut turns into a kick in the balls.

It is fine to say that in the grand scheme of things very little of the total work has actually been done & that eventually there will be work for everyone to do. However, to those of us that want to do some work, and have gone to incredible lengths to try to constantly adjust their computer's settings to perhaps grab ANY work units, only to be thwarted again and again, then being essentially patted on the head & told like you were a young child that you just need to wait & eventually Santa will get here, it's an incredibly condescending attitude (especially when one is able to look at others badges & see that there are several people who've already earned ruby or emerald badges for DDD2 when personally I've only gotten TWO work units total).

Getting the science done IS the ultimate goal here. However something needs to be done to adjust how work units are distributed so that most everyone who wants to be is involved from the very beginning (on future projects at the very least). It might slightly slow down the end result, but it would greatly decrease the bad feelings/anger that this project is developing.

WCG needs (or should) be a place for anyone to donate whatever time they can with whatever computer power they have available. Right now though, that is true for everything except for the highly touted new project. There it seems that you can only participate if you have a near top of the line machine dedicated 24/7 to WCG. Now that might be (& probably is) completely wrong, but that is the impression that is being given.

Hopefully this will be something that the techs keep in mind when developing future distribution protocols....

Re: Still no Wu's...

I feel your pain. Was wondering myself if/when I was going to get some. Only my ubuntu box, which is connected all the time, received some wu's. My mac didn't get any. Not sure if this is because I upload/download manually wirelessly. As much as I enjoy getting badges, the bottom line is the science and processing these wu's in hope for a cure. Hopefully, we will see this project spitting out the mother load soon.
