Oh wait... They are C-types. I first looked at the second part of the wu name blushing pl and sr, so they are both C's

Re: Still no Wu's...

So there is hope for small crunchers like me to get WU's ..

Lundi / JEklund, you're not a small cruncher! I haven't looked up the exact stats, but pure based on your badges, you've contributed at lease 8,25 years! In my opinion, that's not a small contribution.

Well, its just over 10 years .. When sayin' "small" I ment that when some crunchers have multiple quad/six/eight etc -core machines my one quad amd + few other older machines are only "small" portion ..

Hello judson Somerville MD

Reference: Your [Apr 10, 2010 8:12:15 PM] post

Franky, I do not think that anyone can attract a sufficient number of volunteers to join astrolab's idea of a community grid; and if it matters to you, yes, that is my opinion. Still, I suggest that you stay away else disassociate yourself from that kind of a community grid or the idea thereof.

It is my understanding that currently, something was done to alleviate the bottleneck in the availability of DDDT2 WUs, something that I think (or is of the opinion) would NOT have been even in the cards had WCG management decided to follow astrolab's idea of a community grid.

Note to WCG Forum management:
With DDDT2 WUs now available or in the offing, I think that this "Still no WUs" thread can be marked as resolved.

Good day

Re: Still no Wu's...

There's this English expression "Hold that thought" ;>) It's Legrandpiou's thread and only he as owner can ask for locking, or the CA's if it's turning into flame throwers and hand grenades.

Meantime, ~10,000 seem to get validated today based on this noon's numbers.

Re: Still no Wu's...

Hello Jack007

Reference: Your [Apr 12, 2010 3:40:03 PM] post

Last word on what? The subject ("Still no WUs") under the root thread, was addressed as I see it. Whether the result of that effort was effective or not is another matter, I agree. The difference is particularly acute when viewing a community grid through the lens of astrolab's idea on one hand, and on the other hand through the lens of other ideas of a community grid. Because astrolab's idea of a community grid, as I see it, effectively reduces volunteers to mere clones with no voice at all and with Scientists effectively as dictators, I sought to highlight the difference by way of an example; and that example is by recognizing efforts to alleviate the cruncher concern of non-availabilty of DDDT2 WUs -- an exercise that would not be possible in any dictatorial system for that matter. Sure, there may still be no DDDT2 WUs that one can get anytime; and sure that itself is an issue to some crunchers, but the effort to address those cruncher concerns is there and I wanted to emphasize that.

Secondly, I was afraid that my post would be criticized of talking about offTopic items had I not made some kind of hint that I am aware that the topic is ("Still no WUs"). I thought I provided that hint by suggesting that there were some postitive results in the availability of DDDT2 WUs or otherwise we were not on the same situation as what I thought we were when the root post was started by Legrandpiou.

Lastly, I am aware that Legrandpiou reserves the right to close the thread by marking it resolved. I never said that I "suggest" that the thread be marked as resolved as in, say, "I suggest that this thread be marked as resolved". I thought that would have been dead-on an attempt to close the thread, or as you put, "to have the last word". By the way, check out the word "can", which lends another context and hints of some flexiblity in asserting statements; compare that for example, with "must" or "should". Another thing, there is nothing in 'I think that this "Still no WUs" thread can be marked as resolved' that specifically excludes Legrandpiou from closing the thread.

Good day
