Mine was a Sinclair ZX Spectrum, with all 48K of Ram AND 16 colours!! Sound too, imagine that
----------------------------------------![]() Made a mate of mine very jealous at the time, as he only had a ZX81. Not long after that, I got a 128K Spectrum, which still works by the way, although it does more dust gathering now, as the connections won't plug into my telly now
Some look on me as an institution... Some think I should be in one!

First programmable device: HP-25 calculator circa 1975
----------------------------------------First computer used: 8080 (unknown make) programmed via paper tape/teletype circa 1978 First computer at home: S100 based, 1 MHz Z80 CPU, maxed out at 56K RAM, CP/M OS, dual single-sided 8" floppies, no HD (why would I have wanted that?), a speedy 300 baud modem, and a monochrome standalone terminal circa 1980. (as definition of "computer" since my previous and STILL WORKING Atari 2600 is not a computer from my own point of view... it's a gaming console) |

What amazes me, is that none has mentioned 486 DX2/66MHz or Pentium machines. I guess they haven't yet started crunching

Mine was a Commodore 64, and it was Easter 1983 (as far as I can remember... Or was it already 1982???
----------------------------------------![]() ![]() After quite a while, I upgraded my equipment with a VC1541 floppy disk drive (not to forget, one of the most important tools at that time was a floppy disk hole punch, so you could use both sides of a floppy disk ![]() That were really great times... Everything was still so easy... ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 23, 2010 9:52:00 AM] |

Mine was a Sinclair ZX81, which I built from a kit. It had a whopping 1K of RAM built in. Eventually I popped for the "huge" 64K RAM attachment. Nostalgia is right.... ![]() |

Does a TRS 80 pocket PC count? It had 1K of memory and an interface to an adding machine tape printer. It could also read and write to a cassette tape.
----------------------------------------I still have it. It worked the last time I put batteries in it. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 1, 2010 2:39:36 AM] |
