Re: The Clean Energy Project, Phase 2: Welcome all!

Hi guys, i'm a new kid here (read: n00b). I'm having problems in setting wcg manager under ubuntu in virtualbox. Purely to run CEP2. Everything went smooth except for the number of units that i can run at the same time. It seems that system (and manager) finds only one core :/
In Adv/Perf under cpu usage tab everything is set as should be (at least it works like a charm under win764bit (host for virtualbox).
Does it matter that I installed 32bit version of ubuntu 9.10? And the manager version is 6.10.17.

HELP!!

ggdh, it sounds like your virtual machine only has one allotted processor core. If you want to use more you'll need to change the VM settings.

Hello.
Have you set number of cores to 2 in motherboard settings in virtualbox?

In linux terminal try this :
grep processor /proc/cpuinfo
If you have two cores they are marked processor 0 and processor 1.

OK. Now linux can recognize 4 cores (changing settings in VM did the trick). It's running at full speed now.

Thanks!!

Re: The Clean Energy Project, Phase 2: Welcome all!

Some questions which can't saw in any other thread yet:

There is an estimative of project duration (ex. same duration of CEP1, or 8 months of project duration, and so on... ) ?

There is an estimative to launch this project in MAC and Windows platforms soon (ex. next week, next month ...) ?

Thank you in advance. coffee

GIBA,

Those are both good questions. We do not know the estimation yet...need to see how fast things run first :)

Estimated launches of the other platforms is not locked in 100% yet, we need to finish some prepping of them as well as test them on alpha and beta.

Re: The Clean Energy Project, Phase 2: Welcome all!

Okay, I'm having my first VirtualBox experience just to run this project. Works like a charm, almost. I have an 8 GB vritual drive with 4,7 GB free after installing Ubuntu 10.04. I get the following message:

The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 needs 142.20MB more dis space. You currently have 1905.80 MB available and it needs 2048.00 MB.

What's the problem here?

EDIT: disk usage was a matter of preference. Changing it to 4G solved it. Now it complains about my network connection missing just a couple of kbit/s. I have an 8 Mbit/s connection, but connecting via wireless and virtualbox... how would I go about making BOINC re-evaluate my connection speed? Or perhaps virtualbox is emulating a slower connection?
