Re: Clean Energy Project - Phase 2's Recognition Thread

Got my silver. Also was able to add another quad to this project. I finally figured out that if I limit the upload speed on each linux cruncher it doesn't choke my network. *slaps forehead* biggrin

Can't wait for the "doze" crowd to come on board. hugs

Re: Clean Energy Project - Phase 2's Recognition Thread

Bronze! Finally!

It has been quite the adventure learning how to run Ubuntu in a virtual machine on my Windows quad. Especially since I have 3 Windows and 2 Macs and have never touched Linux before.

Just a heads up to anyone thinking about using a virtual machine on Windows Vista, I found VMWare BY FAR the easiest to set up. I never could get Microsoft Virtual Machine to work at all and Oracle VM VirtualBox was too complicated for me.

Re: Clean Energy Project - Phase 2's Recognition Thread

I'm not a Linux guy. I just have a have a netbook I don't use so I loaded Linux on it and made it into a dedicated cruncher. I wounder how long a netbook can last under 100% CPU load, I'll give it 4 months.

I don't care if it dies. I give it's life to WCG. I use my phone as a netbook.

My Windows quad core desktop runs the other projects when I'm not playing games. But I turn it off when I'm not using it.

This is how I will kill all my computers from now on.
