Re: Clean Energy Project - Phase 2's Recognition Thread

Nice work guys. I'll have the 45 day one soon. I have been using my computer for play the past week. My clavicle surgery is Tuesday and I should be back to work the next week (my computer too).

If only I could get my shinny new 1Ghz Android phone to help out too. My phone is powered by solar btw. If I start using it for crunching I'll need a more efficient panel, what a conundrum.

Edit: I'm a bad speller.

Re: Clean Energy Project - Phase 2's Recognition Thread

Had my bronze for a few days now (calender that is) but the upload size is choking my connection so I've had to drop back to a single machine running this project.

Same problem here. It killed 2 of my USB/Linux crunchers. I had to put the HDDs back in service and only run 1 quad on CEP2. Bronze here. Should have silver in a few days.

Re: Clean Energy Project - Phase 2's Recognition Thread

I would really like to work on this project, but I do not want to change any of my systems to run Linux since they are all busy with currently active projects. I have read some about "...You can use Ubuntu Windows installer to run Ubuntu alongside your current system. ... Burning a CD means that you can trial Ubuntu without affecting your ..." but I am a bit nervous in doing something of this nature at this time.

Re: Clean Energy Project - Phase 2's Recognition Thread

Me too...

I burned out my Linux machines few months ago due incompatibility with my work projects requirements, and just keep the Windows and Mac machines were I have active applications running 24x7.

So, like the smasher majority of WCG crunchers (read in the foruns that the number reach around 90% or more of total crunchers registered) I don't have any option than waiting for the Windows/Mac Beta test and follow production releases which was announced by WCG weeks ago during the announce of launch of this project.

Hope that it happens soon. peace coffee

You don't have to be nervous about running Ubuntu from a CD. I do it all the time to install Linux on USB drives. Just download an ISO, burn it to disk and boot it from your CD/DVD drive. It won't effect your other install at all. Just reboot, remove the disk and boot normally back into your O/S when you're done.

Re: Clean Energy Project - Phase 2's Recognition Thread

From personal experience I agree with nanoprobe that running Ubuntu from a CD (the trial/evaluation option) should be safe, however this is only one more individual feedback. smile

For all Windows users who may not or don't feel like taking any risk the wisest decision is definitely to wait for the Windows launch.
Since the specific beta has not started yet it will probably be delayed by a few days, but where is the problem? The CEP2 badge? It will have the same value whether you get it today, next month or later. smile

Cheers. Jean.
