Re: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 technical project details

Well I am now not getting any more WU for CEP2 as it says I have got to have 128 kbps download speed.

I am sure this is a problem on your end since I have verified I have both an upload and download speed of 25 MBPS.

I hope this gets fixed soon. Thanks for letting me apart of a great cause.

Re: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 technical project details

My 2 cents worth, this has been documented in quite a few places - it being the <bwdown> value within the client_state.xml file.

Shut down BOINC, edit that value to one greater than 128 kbps, restart BOINC, and away you go...

Re: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 technical project details

Downloading multiple small files do that. Fetch a couple of HCC and it generally skips back above the 128KB (1024 Kbps).

The value is supposed to not be considered when CEP2 is exclusive, but that is now a fubar control. Should get disabled if the proposed change by knreed implemented and an option override is added to the My Projects page.

Re: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 technical project details

Since the run times of each CEP2 task varies from the previous, the chance of multiple tasks ''starting'' from zero at the same time is rather small, unless you did that through manual intervention. If you have ideas how to achieve this with a client scheduler, then propose you carry this to the developers. Its already massively complicated as it is.

Re: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 technical project details

Query re. Credits Awarded for CEP2:
Have there been changes made to the WCG system for awarding WU credit in the case of quora of 2 claims(Qo2), or is CEP2 very different to other Qo2 projects?

For other Qo2 projects credit was and probably still is done by averaging the 2 credit claims, but there was/is an override system that kicks in if the 2 claims vary by a wide margin. In that case, I think that each of the 2 claims is compared to the device's historical credits/hr, and the claim made by the one that matches best is used for both, instead of using the average. Or something like that.
Is that override system still being used? Or was it never applied to CEP2 because of the complexity of the 16 internal job-ettes per WU?

I was browsing thru my results status pages and came across:
E202466_ 457_ C.26.C22H12N2OS.00058149.4.set1d06_ 0 | 640 | Valid | 20/06/11 21:48:44 | 22/06/11 14:45:17 | 4.89 | 157.9 / 283.0 - Moi, Q9650 @ 3.97GHz (1.22V), XP-64, BOINC 6.2.19 64-bit
E202466_ 457_ C.26.C22H12N2OS.00058149.4.set1d06_ 1 | 640 | Valid | 20/06/11 21:23:38 | 22/06/11 07:38:45 | 34.25 | 408.1 / 283.0
The result logs show that both WUs completed the full 16 jobs

Claims of 408 vs 158 are a rather wide spread, and I would have thought the override sytem would have kicked in. My claim is about normal for the device, which gets around 35 credits awarded/hr on CEP2, 33 on FAAH. This time it got 58. Nice work if you can get it :)

BTW, I thought that there was a 12-hr cutoff for CPU time. How did my wingman run to 34hrs?
