Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

The raiding and burn-in procedure of jabba02 goes blazingly fast. The PCI cards in this setup seems to work much better with the backplate-multipliers and the drives compared to jabba01.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

As you may have read, WCG has launched a new project called ‘Drug Search for Leishmaniasis’. The CEP team wishes success and the best of luck. At the same time we hope that many of you will stay faithful to CEP since we are still by far the project with a smallest share in computing time. Unfortunately, we’ve been falling short of our goals of 20 years and 20,000 results per day. We have to try and rally more troops to boost our support...

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Dear SekeRob,
thanks for your suggestion – we’ll try it out. And yes, the kind of progress that has been happening in hardware and computer science is indeed remarkable! It is hard to imagine doing research in a pre-internet, pre-eMail age... How did people get anything done?
Best wishes
Your Harvard CEP team

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

cleanenergy i admit I have been a little remiss in my crunching cep. My mother recently passed of cancer and I vowed to do at least sapphire to the cancer projects here, which is taking some time away from CEP but I will dedicate more time back here once I hit that goal.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Dear Aaron,
we are very sorry to hear about your loss. All WCG projects are worthwhile efforts, so at the end of the day you should really go with the ones closest to your heart. We certainly understand and support that.
All the best from us at the
Harvard CEP team

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

We produced a little video clip for our perspective overview article in J Phys Chem Lett and the journal put it on their webpage today (unfortunately slightly cut in the end). Lauren Kaye really made this one possible - thanks so much!
Enjoy the clip.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Our J Phys Chem Lett article on CEP is the 7th most read article of the journal this month - and it has only been in the running for 2 weeks, so there is still room for improvement biggrin.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Marist College – one of the big institutional WCG crunchers – has started running CEP and it already resulted in a distinct bump in the output. A big thank you to New York!

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Now that I hit my goal on HCC, I have opened up resources to include CEP2 again. It may not be a lot of a boost, but I'm still here.
