Base Camper blackheeler turned in results. I visit your blog now and again. There are several ads for travelling  The Internet reads my mind. One would take me to Syöte via Helsinki for four days There it might be possible to experience the wonders or aurelia borealis - nature allowing - a snowmobile safari, a dog sled safari and a visit to a reindeer farm .... It really sounds tempting - and Friday I bought myself a wind- and waterproof yet breathable ski suit with the promising Greenlandic brand name of Nanok to ward off all eventualities (blizzards) in New York City ... weird? I shall not be the only one dressed funny if I rely on past experience   - if it can make it there - it can make it everywhere - in Suomi, too  |

To be crunching here in our Trek #31 is a honour for me as a Dane.
We have always admired the hardy Finns - men of few words. During the Winter War the people of Finland suffered severe hardship and many Finnish children were sent abroad some as far as Denmark, where Toivo and Mariitta not are uncommon names. Finland - Suomi In Denmark we call it "The Land of 1,000 Lakes" - and that might even be an understatement. Finland - Suomi - it is an impossible language and a white flag with a blue cross - it is determined winter warriors, serious crunchers and long distance runners - it is knives, sauna, vodka, reindeer, and shipyards that builds the worlds largest cruise ships - it is midnight sun, aurora borealis and winter depressions - it is Nokia, Marimekko, Valmet, Iitala, Alvar Aalto, Jean Sibelius and Leningrad Cowboys - it is birch trees and settlers in Michigan's icy Upper Peninsula where its birch trees whispered tales from home In short - Finland - Suomi and it's people are worthwhile This team's captain is a Finn Finland - Suomi - is and has Sisu - you could do worse than joining this team  |

It's almost midnight here again. Here it begins darkness. Hopefully it starts to snow again soon and for stay. Snow helps with darkness. |

Yes, I'm afraid the end is closing in, Captain, but we will not forget you.
I warned you that it will feel empty after we're gone, but I hope you agree it has been worth it anyway. I just wrote a post here, but I must have forgotten to press the right buttons. I talked about RAMMIE packing up and hauling his machines to new pastures. It must be your snow, Captain. It must be scraped off before you can find anything to eat. Like the reindeer do. And yes, snow helps a lot to brighten our dark Nordic days, especially when the sun is out. After You've Gone  |
