Quite a development in cars, indeed.
Any special reason for choosing British those days? My Rosie would fit in the bed of your pick-up truck ![]() |

I had a friend with a 1956 MGA and another with a 1952 MG TC or TD can't remember which. I was living in Florida and a convertible was cool at the time. I must say that the Lucas electric fuel pump was not the most dependable, it was located behind the seats under a panel where the batteries were mounted. I carried a stick and on occasion would have to give the fuel pump a thrashing to get it going again. And notice that I said batteries, as it was a 12 volt electrical system but they installed two 6 volt batteries, one on each side of the axle. After moving to New York the car began to be temperamental and would not start on a cold morning. If you waited for the sun to come up and the temperature to rise you had a chance at starting. However, for a small block 4 cylinder engine it would run at 80 MPH all day making it great for taking trips.
----------------------------------------I also had a friend with a Jaguar XKE but it was out of my price range. Looking back I do not regret buying MGs. When I was living in New Jersey I looked at a Lotus Elan but thought it was more money than I wanted to spend. Of course, if I had no limit on price I would definitely go with a Bugatti, but that will never happen. After moving to Georgia my friends were all driving 4x4 pickup trucks so here I am following the crowd again. I am very happy with my Ford pickup and since I don't plan on moving there is no reason to trade vehicles. ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors and be a large fish in a small pond ![]() |

Since it's such fine weather in the UK, I fancied a spot of camping. I join widdershins in forming a small committee of visiting Vultures. Hi Fraz Pull up a perch and relax, the Base campers are keeping us supplied with tasty morsels, and PecosRiverM is filtering the water through an advanced purification system. I'd give the sheep in the next field a miss, their owner can get a bit upset (and the wool isn't good for the digestion). I'm saying that in case rwillis is reading, let's hope he falls asleep before he gets finished counting them. ;) |

Have a huge bowl of lemons, so looks like I'll be making lemonade later today.
Trying to jump start one of the old crunchers to keep my team ticking over while everyone's over here. Any results beat no results. We'll see. |

Good luck, Ghostie
Just in order to try to save some sheep, I passed the kitchen of one of Copenhagens oldest restaurants from the mid 1700s ![]() It's in a basement in the very heart of Copenhagen and was named after Russian St. Petersburg because the Russian consulate used to be in that building, and many Russian sailors went there when they anchored in Copenhagen. In 1995 Hillary Clinton ate there, and she's still alive. She might just have chosen the Danish dish Biksemad med spejlæg. ![]() Please help yourselves. Ghost Plane provides the lemonade (funny thing to drink with biksemad, but one should try everything once in his life, so, please pour in our glasses, Ghostie). |
