Thanks everyone for the support.
----------------------------------------It is my understanding that a blog can be linked to the team. I will look into that as time permits (I do have a day job). The advantage a blog might provide is that it shows in the search engines and I do not know if the forums on WCGrid do. A little visibility on the search engines can go a long way to increasing awareness of the team and the cause. I spoke with my urologist last week and he told me again that bilateral kidney cancer patients don't last but 1-2 years after being diagnosed. I disagree as it has been 11+ years for me. I honestly believe that a cancer diagnosis is not a death sentence anymore. The research performed on WCGrid is a good thing and I personally can't do enough to support it. The problem with curing cancer is that it is not a single disease but a collection of over 100 different diseases. There is a cancer for each type of cell in our body and they require different treatments. Cancer is a disease where the normal cell division and cell death go awry and cells divide uncontrollably and do not die when they should. It is a difficult job to cure something that has so many variables. Possibly there is a common problem that can be identified at the DNA level and that is where WCGrid can shine. ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors |

The Twitter account is set up @teamsurvivors and some following and followers has been accomplished. I am hoping that this will pick up some new team members for The survivors and crunchers for WCGrid.
----------------------------------------The Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/teamthesurvivors now has some Likes. Three links were placed on the wall to IBM/WCGrid YouTube videos as an introduction for new crunchers to learn about the grid. Emphasis is on new crunchers that are survivors and are interested in doing humanitarian research as a team member of "The survivors". However, guests and visitors are more than welcome to stop by the forum and Like the FB page. We also need some Tweeters to follow us and re-tweet our tweets so that we can reach more people and improve our Twitter influence grade. Never would I have imagined that it would be this difficult to find team members for "The survivors". This is such a great cause, what is there not to like about donating wasted CPU time to crunch for a cure? ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors |

Up you go!
- we cannot hide down there under a pile of seemingly sensible threads, can we rcc? We are with you, but I'm gnashing my teeth over this missing permanent member - not that I mind staying by you at all - but my ambitions are nibbled at - and we need a very good idea on top of everything you tried, rcc ![]() - or a very benevolent cruncher Did not know they were (grammatical deadlock; were or was?) an endangered species. Did you? |

The team "The survivors" is actively looking for cancer survivors and people that think of themselves as survivors, to join us in crunching for a cure.
----------------------------------------For people that have come here from FB it is free, safe, easy, secure, painless, and has no impact whatsoever on your daily computer usage. Since 2007 the wasted computer time (coffee breaks, etc...) that I was able to recover is in excess of 14 years of CPU time; that time was used to generate humanitarian research. This is from a couple of computers that my wife and I use daily to check email, Facebook, Twitter, play games, etc... . Did I mention that this is free and that nobody profits financially from the donated research as it is put in the public domain and is available to universities and researchers free of cost. Well it is! This is a no-brainer folks! Be part of a worldwide supercomputing grid that reduces research time by years. The sooner we unlock the secrets of cancer the better off we all will be. If you want to be afraid of something fear cancer not this research software. This has been the best behaving software I have ever run on Windows. I am an 11+ year cancer survivor, please join me in crunching for a cure. ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors |

little mermaid,
----------------------------------------You don't need to worry about me getting new crunchers. There are many things I have not tried yet; for example, bribing people with Monopoly Money, going door-to-door asking them to join, putting up a billboard on the highway, etc... the possibilities are endless. I am very grateful to the guests/visitors that have stopped by to help this team get established. The results have been spectacular. The emails received have been helpful and show that a great bunch of people hang out on WCGrid. Thanks everyone for the support. ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors |

Ghost Plane,
----------------------------------------When I was a student I took Latin and English courses. Latin was easier than English. To this day I can't diagram a sentence as required in school. In fact, not one person has ever asked me about something as simple as conjugating verbs, therefore it must not be important. I offer texting as my primary defense. I am still working on finding new crunchers. I think I am on the verge of something big. However, I am here because a cure for cancer is important to me, not because i want to win contests. So if it takes a while to find new blood that's okay by me. Who would have guessed that my friends and relatives would rather go to the dentist than load a mysterious software program onto their computer? Tomorrow is another day and I will start anew. I really appreciate all of the crunchers that have chipped in to help get this team moving. Thanks everyone, you are greatly appreciated! ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors |

Thank you Ghost Plane.
I think your idea of offering free editing or grammer lessons is excellent! We could offer swimming lessons too, and Danish <no, not the pastry, the language ... tsk, tsk ... OK, OK, we'll throw in that kind of Danish as well along with the toaster (Danish model) where you can heat'em up a little> I admire your persistance, rcc, it cannot help but pay off .... ![]() |
