I have always been intrigued with the Pennsylvania Dutch and their use of words.

There is a good chance that there will be new crunchers joining the team.

Great if your efforts pay off, rcc.
You really deserve it!! Yep, nothing is wrong with "Throw that cow over the fence some hay" - Pennsylvania Dutch, which - I'm told - actually is German (Deutch) and not tulips and windmills. In German the cases play a bigger role than in most other languages, I think: "Cases are used in German to signify the functions of nouns and pronouns sentences. There are four cases in German: Nominative, Accusative, Dative, and Genitive. Each case encompasses a specific range of functions". In this case the case is Dative as far as the cow is concerned. But in English it must comical look ... the Germans like to place their verbs at the end of their sentences, so often you have to wait a while for the action, and when it finally comes it's a firework of verbs. |

If I was to "throw that cow over the fence some hay"
----------------------------------------I would throw that cow over the fence, and then realize that the hay was intended to be thrown to a cow on the other side of the fence. I'm sure this would be more disturbing to the cow than to me. ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors |

Depends on the cow's German grammar skills
![]() I see what you mean, and I also find it funny. - languages are funny tho, and fun. One of the attractions of German is the very distinct grammar - basically no exceptions, cool and clear and orderly. Doing it correctly puts your brain to work in a very strict, analytic pattern. Much like when you have to analyze if a verb should take the singularum or the plural, as I find difficult at times in English and need Ghost Plane's help. We don't have this variety in Danish, but the Germans do in an abundance |

Choice of words and the proper use of them has remarkable effect upon the reader.

I think humor works because the words take you to a comfortable place and
----------------------------------------the punch line takes you elsewhere, a trick on your mental process. "Sex on television can't hurt you... unless you fall off." ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors |

![]() making it doubly funny when an image finally produced itself on my inner movie theatre screen. ![]() and proving your theory that the punch line did take me elsewhere, because my mental process was tricked (altho in slow motion). Pfalz, Rhineland-Pfalz, is so beautiful with rivers Rhine and maybe especially Mosel with the fields of steep vineyard hills lining it and their confluence in Koblenz at Deutsches Eck. EDIT: Well, that picture changed its stripes. New one didn't work either. Hope this does: ![]() One new cruncher ![]() ![]() squeezed her (I remember gretchch as a lady) her way in between the two long gone original team members Whether gretchch is making her guest crunching debut or signing up for good, we cannot know until we hear from her. I think I'll stay for a while. I am a 4 year breast cancer survivor, my mom is a 14 year breast cancer survivor, and now she is battling thyroid cancer. This team sounds like a great place for me to park for a while (not just camp ;-) )
