Three businessmen check in to a hotel and each pays $10. After the men go to their rooms the desk clerk realizes that he should have charged them a group rate of $25, and sends the bellhop to refund $5 to the guests. The bellhop did not know how to divide $5 three ways so he kept $2 and gave each guest $1. So, each guest paid $9 for a room, 3x$9=$27 and the bellhop kept $2 for a total of $29. They started with $30, where is the other dollar? It didn't go anywhere. The businessmen paid $30, the clerk refunds $5, so $25 was paid to the clerk, $3 was given to the businessmen and the bellhop kept $2. |

Yes, don't get confused, keep your kool, figures don't lie .... as Dina says in "I Am Dina".
And you have the same number of members crunching for you as you had when I went to bed. Numbers don't lie. And we are in two challenges now. Just unloaded my PC, so stick walking >>>> to the laptop. How are we doing, captain rcc? |

The nights are drawing in and it's starting to get a little more chilly. I should hit my goal of 1/2 year crunched for The Survivors in about 3-4 days at which point I'll be flying off to my winter perch at Vulture Central.

USAFA 82, Sorry, the $30 question was an attempt to keep the thread alive. (I was advised to talk to myself if needed to keep the thread active.) I was running out of ideas and had to dig deep to find that one. Thank you very much for your support for the survivors.
----------------------------------------widdershuns, I was in Scotland when a storm hit (from the North Sea?) that shook the hotel, it made it difficult to sleep that night. I appreciate your support for the survivors and thank you for your contribution. little mermaid, I have two more new members that promised to join, we just have to give them some time; they could show on the results any day. You are a great supporter and I appreciate your help getting this team going. Still active with Twitter and Facebook, and looking for a corporate sponsor. I have a day job so my time is limited, otherwise I would be all over this forum and social media. There are/were some nomadic visitors to the team and I do/did not have time to personally thank each of them. I hope they know how much they are appreciated. Being a 2x cancer survivor WCGrid research is dear to me. When I look on Twitter, Facebook, and the blogs it is disenchanting at the large number of self serving people out to profit from cancer patients. There are sites that promote books written by advocates of unproven treatments; in the days of USENET I was active on the newsgroups and those that chose alternative treatments did not fare well. However, I am committed to supporting research for a cure and am unwilling to give cancer advice to people that don't want it. I wish them all well. ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors |

First let me say:
It was not - NOT - me who gave Captain RCC_Survivor the advice of speaking to himself. It could'ave been, very well have been, but wasn't. We all admire you for the gigantic work you have put into getting your team off the dock, rcc. Even as you have been in pain and have limited spare time, you have worked tirelessly. You do not have to thank us. I try to thank each Base Camper individually for their contributions as they retire to their home teams. They have all - along with two visiting vultures made this Trek so wonderful. Seeing you off is plenty of thanks for us and besides - that's exactly what Base Camp is for and: That's What Friends Are for ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

@RCC if you are after suggestions on where to fish for new recruits could I suggest cancer support forums. You sound quite active on the internet so are probably not adverse to joining a few forums specialising in your ailments to take part in the discussions.
----------------------------------------Obviously it'd be a bit tactless to wade straight in with a sales pitch, but if you were active in the forums anyways, you could perhaps include some info in your sig and a link to WCG. Perhaps get yourself one of those snazzy SNURK stats sigs, a stylish graphic like that would also be a talking point. [Edit 1 times, last edit by widdershins at Oct 10, 2011 7:13:53 PM] |
