Re: "The survivors"

April I should get my Guru crown on my SNURK signature.
Should have enough badges and Beta work to qualify.
April 2013 will be 6 years crunching on WCG.
At the very least I will be promoted from Other to Senior.

Re: "The survivors"

So much for Spring !

The rain is coming, and the high tomorrow is supposed to be only 46 (F).

I'll probably just stay in and rewind my DVD's. laughing

Re: "The survivors"

nasher, chugging along is good.

grumpygrampy, our forecast is no better; rain 100%, possibly over one inch, wind 15-25, cold, high 43/low 42.
I could do without the wind.

The stitches were removed yesterday, glad that is done.
I was lucky in a way because kidney cancer surgery in 2000 cut the nerves so there is no pain in the area where the Melanoma was removed.

Re: "The survivors"

I had 561 HCC repairs error out on the i7-2700K.
Repairs are running okay on the i7-2670QM.
There is nothing in the results status to show what the problem is.
There were about 1600 repairs that came in at about the same time.
At one point there were 3116 WUs in progress, which is a concern because the work buffers are set low (1.4-3 days).

I still believe that the BOINC scheduler cannot deal with HCC GPU on an i7 running 6 GPU+CPU and 2 CPU threads.
With 1.5 days work buffer the i7-2700K runs in high priority and eventually fails to complete WUs on time.
At 1.4 days it still runs high priority at times but it does complete work on time.
Four other PCs run fine with 3 days work buffer.

Re: "The survivors"

I have one AMD quad core PC down due to a suspected motherboard failure.
It died in the process of doing Windows updates so the FS or OS may be corrupt.
Replaced a power supply on this Gateway 1-2 years ago.
Have had other problems such as heat and a broken mount for the cooler.
Since Asus bought Gateway they don't seem to hold up as well.

Re: "The survivors"

Since Asus bought Gateway they don't seem to hold up as well.

I used to be a fan of Gateway - especially when they had actual stores you could go in and touch stuff. I still have 3 in the house right now. (and they're showing their age)

Gateway was acquired by Acer Inc. in 2007.

yep - they're not like the good old days. I like to build my own now.

My home built i7 powered abacus is running on an ASUS motherboard. They are top notch mobos.

Re: "The survivors"

I stand corrected.

I am running a Gigabyte mobo on my i7-2700K the only problem is an occasional loss of access to the gateway.
The problem is with the Realtek adapter.
Updated the driver and it still fails so I may add an Intel PCIe adapter.
