Re: "The survivors"

Good luck with your Internet problem.

I'll trade my freezer problem for your Internet problem.
There is a temperature alarm a couple of times a day but the temperature is -10F so there is no low temperature.
Might have something to do with defrost.
I am not an appliance person--leave that to the experts.

Re: "The survivors"

Busy trimming trees getting ready for Fall.
Unfortunately a few trees have decided to grow in an area not designated for them--will use the truck+winch to remove them.
They are too big to dig up but no match for the pick-ups winch.

Re: "The survivors"

nasher,

If you get a few more processors you won't need heating oil.
Especially true with graphics cards.
I heat my home office with 3 PCs and a heat pump for back-up on frosty days.

Re: "The survivors"

Burno, living in the wilderness do you have 4-wheel drive or a snowmobile?
That may not be enough.
Even with 4-wheel drive I have been blocked in with large Oaks down on both ends of the street.

Just got back from sunny, but hot and rainy Florida.

Living in the mountains I probably should have a four wheel drive or snowmobile, but if things are that bad, I'm just not going out. Even with such things, the street I'm on is so steep that no one gets up it when it is snow or ice covered. We just keep the pantry and the bar well stocked.

Re: "The survivors"

So long, Microsoft. It's been a bumpy ride.
Now that the end is near for Windows XP, and there's no way i'm ever gonna put W8 on any computer, it's time to move on.
Who [other than ABOM* ] would think a phone OS on a PC is a good idea?
I've installed Linux MINT on my old Gateway, in a dual boot config with XP.
Wow. i'm impressed with how easy the install was, and really like this OS.
MINT came with Firefox, which i already use, so just a simple import of Bookmarks and it's perfect.
Now on to finding equivalent programs like Adobe Premier, MS Office, etc.
And i can plan on where to spend the money i won't be giving Micro$oft anymore. biggrin
Tomorrow i install Linux on my W7 Laptop.
