slowly making milestones step by step but it seems to take so much longer now that my score is getting higher up the score ranking.

Re: "The survivors"

nasher,

It does take considerably longer to get to the next level.
It appears that you are doing okay as you have 11 Sapphire badges.

How are you doing with your cell phone, getting many WUs done?

Agreed. With each badge taking twice as long as the previous, some of us will never see
emerald or saphire badges. Especially with all the old projects completing. sad

We all go through being unable to complete some projects.
I have 8 that will never complete and Beta will take me forever to get Gold.
But you can usually finish a new project unless it is accelerated or runs into problems.
One of my unfinished projects is due to errors, which persisted so I decided i didn't need to waste time on it.
I was happy to get a Bronze badge in that project.

When things began to slow down I put focus on Help Conquer Cancer and was able to run up some extra years of run time.
Doing the same for FAAH until a new project is released.

Re: "The survivors"

Still have some issue with the FX-8350 powering down on its own.
Replaced the motherboard.
Replaced the power supply.
Disabled the BIOS Anti-Surge feature that allowed ungraceful shutdown if the mobo detected a surge.
Replaced the UPS with a new APC Back-UPS XS 1500.

I'm at a loss because it seems to continue although corrective action has been taken.
My next move is to swap locations of my i7 2700K PC and the FX-8350 PC to see if the problem follows.
The i7 has been rock solid and has the same APC UPS system.
This also puts the FX-8350 in my office where I can keep an eye on it.

Re: "The survivors"

RCC,

I think you hit upon the solution, keeping your eye on it. We all know how these computers go off and do strange things as soon as we leave them alone. And if that mobo thing keeps giving you problems, you might try some "MoJoe" instead. It's not beyond the realm of possibility that some of these computers are "haunted". You just probably have not replaced the unit where the ghost is hiding.

Re: "The survivors"

Maybe a warning on the box from Newegg:
"...one or more parts in this PC kit were built in a factory on an ancient burial grounds".

Re: "The survivors"

Take the Mobo (and everything else) out of the case, and assemble everything on a work table. You can use the box it came in so the video card overhangs the edge.
This way you can see the 'spirits' when they act up. biggrin
