Re: "The survivors"

grumpy,

I agree with 1,2, and 3.

I can improve No. 1.

No. 2, the signature software uses the badges to determine the size of the signature but the badges are redundant so they can go.
Will drop the software and use a static signature.

No. 3 I'll work on it.
Reducing the screen shots makes them unreadable so maybe there is a better way to show that I am running Androids.

For those that were members of United Devices at UD.com and Grid.Org.
Here is a nugget from the past:

United Devices on CNN Headline News

At UD my ID was also RCC_Survivor.

I have more info on UD.
It is too much to post here.
If you are interested, click the mail button on this post to request the info and I will send you a zip file.
If you are bashful or want to remain anonymous, create a free email account on Google or create an email alias.
Regardless, I am not interested in your personal information and certainly would not share it.

Re: "The survivors"

As of November 26, 2013 the latest BOINC version is now 7.2.28.
There are two versions: with or without VirtualBox.
Unless you need virtualization software my recommendation is to load the new version without VirtualBox.

New BOINC installer includes VirtualBox
Starting with version 7.2.28, the recommended BOINC installer for Windows also installs VirtualBox, open-source virtualization software. This allows volunteered computer to run VM applications, benefitting both scientists and volunteers. 19 Nov 2013, 6:09:53 UTC

BOINC 7.2.28 released to the public
A new version of BOINC is ready for public use. You can download it here . See the release notes and version history for details. 8 Nov 2013, 18:24:05 UTC

The following projects currently have VM apps:

Beauty@LHC
Climate@Home
RNAWorld
Test4Theory

Actually the latest version is 7.2.33.
If you upgrade to 7.2.33 it may save you a lot of trouble if you remove the present Version with Add/Remove Programs and then install the new version.
If I recall correctly, grumpygrampy and I found that you can end up with two versions installed.
That was a lot of fun!

Re: "The survivors"

Yesterday I upgraded five PCs to BOINC 7.2.33 no problems.
Did not load the VirtualBox version.
After 24 hours everything is still running as usual.

Adhering to the adage "what could possibly go wrong?"
i downloaded and installed BOINC version 7.2.33.

Wow! it worked, smooth as buttah.

Now running MCM1 and CEP2 simultaneously. biggrin

Re: "The survivors"

Looked at VirtualBox Changelog at https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Changelog

I read the user guide, etc... at https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch01.html#idp55107216
"Guest multiprocessing (SMP).
VirtualBox can present up to 32 virtual CPUs to each virtual machine, irrespective of how many CPU cores are physically present on your host."
How does that help BOINC/WCG crunch more work units per day?

VirtualBox looks a bit undercooked for my taste.

Think I will continue to read up about it and hold off on a decision until WCG has a project that uses it or--impulse control disorder override--kicks in.
