Re: "The survivors"

Sometimes there is a language or culture difference that makes me not understand some things you say.
Yes, some of the discussions on here are geared towards technology because that is my background.
I know there are some on here that do understand technical talk.
I don't intend to talk over anyone's head.
Sorry about that.

I think I'm going to wait and see on the graphics card. I also have a 650W power supply, but as you found, that won't go too far with some of the newer cards. Let us know how you make out with yours.

Don't be sorry, rcc rose
We really should sit down at that café table and share words and coffee
- but we're far apart
- further geographically than culturally, I think.

Re: "The survivors"

On the My Statistics page the section titled:
Additional Statistics
Averages:
Avg. Run Time Per Calendar Day (y:d:h:m:s) 0:004:10:11:44
Avg. Run Time Per Result (y:d:h:m:s) 0:000:05:40:42
Avg. Points Per Hour of Run Time 100.94
Avg. Points Per Calendar Day 10,719.33
Avg. Points Per Result 573.16
Avg. Results Per Calendar Day 18.70

Has anyone an idea of what to do with those stats?
Does that look like I have 25 CPUs/cores running 24/7/365?
(Not likely)
(No)
In my case they appear to be an average of data from join date in 2007 to today.
How is that useful?
Can you compare that to another member that joined on a different date?
Can you use it to make meaningful crunching decisions?
(It ain't)
(No)
(No)

A 30-day moving average would make more sense.

Using a 30-day Average I get:
Avg. Run Time Per Calendar Day (y:d:h:m:s) 0:21:20:54:41
Avg. Run Time Per Result (y:d:h:m:s) 0:0:6:12:51
Avg. Points Per Hour of Run Time 3,872.27
Avg. Points Per Calendar Day 92,934.47
Avg. Points Per Result 1,100.25
Avg. Results Per Calendar Day 84.47

Now those numbers look realistic and I can use them in my day-to-day crunchtrackingtrendingandforecasting (it's a new word).

Re: "The survivors"

little mermaid,
a non technical post for your benefit.
We want you to stop by and not feel that we are talking over your head.

Did you find a replacement for your favorite coffee that was discontinued?

You really are kinder than necessary, rcc rose
I don't feel you're talking over my head.
My head is just not well geared for tech talk.
And I dread the day I may encounter hardware problems.

I made do with the only Melangerie de Luxe Lidl issue: First Class.
It really is second class compared to my favourite .... but it's convenient and saves time for other pursuits
- such as letting myself be caught in a symbolic Swedish fisherman's net
Some day I may spend time looking for something closer to that coffee ....

And, yes, I'll stop by now and again. Thank you, rcc smile

Re: "The survivors"

Just as I differ regarding the member stats so goes team stats.
There is quite a difference between the stats posted on WCG and those computed using Excel and a 30-day moving average for 3/1/2012-3/30/2012.

Averages:
Category | WCG Web Site | Excel 30-day Moving Average for 3/1/2012-3/30/2012
Avg. Run Time Per Calendar Day (y:d:h:m:s) | 0:013:23:14:55 | 0:129:4:18:10
Avg. Run Time Per Result (y:d:h:m:s) | 0:000:04:54:32 | 0:0:3:59:29
Avg. Points Per Hour of Run Time | 111.93 | 133.16
Avg. Points Per Calendar Day | 37,523.97 | 412,821.13
Avg. Points Per Result | 549.46 | 531.48
Avg. Results Per Calendar Day | 68.29 | 776.73
