Re: "The survivors"

You raised a lot of questions, rcc, that I did not notice at first:
I shall check into the paperwork you outline ASAP, Captain peace
We shall not want not to go on the Boggy Creek Airboat Ride batting eyelashes
- and LEGOLAND - by all means! LEGO is Danish! I have never been to the original Danish one
- and I should be more than happy to subsitute the Florida editon tongue

Re: "The survivors"

I got my new PCI-E 2.0 graphics card.
My intentions are to install the graphics card to run HCC GPU (no display) and continue to use the existing graphics for the display..
Can I run both at the same time?

If I don't use the on-board graphics and go with the new card, one of the installation steps gives me pause.
The instructions say to delete the drivers for the existing graphics before installing the new drivers.
The present graphics are internal to the motherboard and the z68 chip.
It would seem that at one point there would be no graphics drivers and how would the display work to complete the installation?
Does the BIOS have a generic driver that will work during that period or does W7 take care of that?
Maybe I can disable the existing graphics instead of removing the drivers.

Any thoughts on this?

I disabled onboard graphics once, and ended up re-installing Windows.

Just install the GPU and it's drivers. No need to uninstall old drivers if
there is no existing card

Re: "The survivors"

little mermaid,
Really, a woman without an opinion?
If you don't have an opinion about graphics card drivers how about automobile drivers?
We can stay within your area of expertise.

Grumpygrampy,
I have a Gateway AMD quad core that has the onboard graphics disabled.
The onboard stays at 100% usage 100% of the time although there is no activity to justify it.
So I disabled it to save a few watts.
I am using the ATI graphics card, which WCG shows as a valid GPU for crunching.

Re: "The survivors"

Can you slow down long enough to make sure your additional work buffer is set to at least 1 day.
There will be some outages (planned) today and you can end up with the inability to get new work.
Look in BOINC Manager > Tools > Computing Preferences > Network Usage > Additional work buffer.
Don't set that number high as it will eventually give you trouble but setting it for an extra days work won't hurt.
After the outages are over you can go back to your regular setting.
