Re: "The survivors"

Loaded the latest 32-bit BOINC on my P4.
No sign of problems.
There are two changes.
On the Preferences tab there is an "exclusive applications" tab.
If you specify an exclusive application BOINC will not run while the application is running.
The network usage tab now has a minimum and maximum additional days work buffer.

Re: "The survivors"

They have Adobe Premier for the Abacus?
The folks at Berkeley are on top of it.
Now if we could get a couple of new features at WCG that would be swell.

Re: "The survivors"

Upgraded my 4 remaining PCs to BOINC version 7.
The only problem was a BSOD on the laptop when removing BOINC via the control panel.
Ran the uninstall again and no problems.
All of the installs went well.
The new version picked up where the old version left off.
Don't think there was any loss of work units.

In the event log for the i7 the new NVIDIA card is showing and BOINC is requesting work for the GPU.
It also shows OpenCL for the GPU, which was not showing before the update.

I picked up 4 BETA_cfsw work units for the CPU but nothing yet for the GPU.

Re: "The survivors"

little mermaid,
Are you swimming outside of the WiFi coverage area?
Yes, Captain.
Those Swedish fishermen with their treacherous nets were at it again.
I did, however, aquire at a hefty price a mobile broadband modem from Telenor - a Swedish network.
But, because I was deposited out in the boonedocks
- and Sweden has plenty of those -
the coverage is unreliable when it's best. Often it's plain non exisisting.
That it can pull in a signal at times was a surprise nevertheless,
because simple mobile phone conversation is a very depressing thing at that location.
Driving some 5 miles to the nearby small town is advisable when you need to phone.
For a short break I'm at home with a Danish coverage that is relatively excellent.
Sunday at 05.30 UTC I step on a bus that will take a full busload to Frankfurt am Main in Germany
to inspect the European Central Bank
- and do they need some down-to-earth eyes to inspect - Mamma Mia!
only to proceed to Strasbourg, France, to take a look at the European Council and the European Parliament
- all taken together we should have top notch entertainment all the way from the bank .... biggrin
How the broadband connection will be at our hotels, I cannot say, but it will hardly be worse than
the ones the Swedes serve up, but I may be preoccupied with getting to know my room mate
- unfortunately a lady - I had hoped for a tall, dark stranger blushing
European Anthem - also known as "Ode an der Freude" - Ode to Joy - don't suggest they have no sense of humour devilish

Re: "The survivors"

Has anyone experienced problems with upgrading to or using BOINC version 7.0.25?
I have not had any problems except for a BSOD when uninstalling BOINC 6 on my laptop.
The second try succeeded with no problems.

This is from my HP p6620f (1 of 5 various PCs)

4/14/2012 6:09:12 PM | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together - Phase 2 (Type A)

I believe this is a normal response as there are no GPU tasks for those projects.
Notice also that HCC is not in the response as it does have a GPU project coming soon..
