Re: "The survivors"

LM always brings a touch of class to this 'technophobe' leaning thread.

Loved the underwater computer pic (took a bit to actually see the computer!)

Is this what y'all call water cooling?

My abacus would warp in the humidity. blushing

Re: "The survivors"

It is good to see LM again! Warping this back to a techno conversation... tongue When I told my co-workers that I was going to put in a liquid cooler, one of them told me he had seen a news story about a computer that ran entirely submersed in a non-conductive liquid for cooling purposes shock He said the CPU ran so hot there were constant bubbles coming from it. Wonder how many Gflops that one would produce for WCG? biggrin

Re: "The survivors"

LM is always welcome here.

grumpygrampy,
Focus on the computer.

gretchch,
Wonder what the coolant is?
I would love to try using dry ice or thermoelectric (Peltier) cooling.
Maybe when I get around to overclocking above 4.3, air cooling may not be adequate.

Yes, it's all water cooling, grumpygrampy, no fans whatsoever

- dressed up as if they had legs instead of tails

Now back to techie things tongue

Re: "The survivors"

The mermaids don't look familiar but the car is a Bugatti Veyron.

Re: "The survivors"

Last I heard a set of tires for the Veyron is US$17K, and of course that is why I don't own one.
A ridiculous price for 4 tires; don't you agree?
And they only last a couple of months.
The car is made by VW in France under license by Bugatti.
Don't let that fool you, this is no VW.
It is the fastest production car on earth.
If you are in a hurry top speed is 253 MPH (good luck finding a place to drive that fast, you might try Montana).
0-60 MPH in 2.5 seconds.
0-124 MPH in 7.3 seconds.
A W16 engine with 4 turbochargers. (Imagine 2 V8 engines side by side and you are close as this is a 16-cylinder in a W configuration)
The Bugatti Veyron at about US$1-2M+ is not the most expensive performance car.
What is?

Re: "The survivors"

the most expensive performance car

based on my repair costs, i'd have to say it's my '96 Explorer!

or it could also be the Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster

just my $0.02
