Re: What GPU's would you bring to the WCG table?

I'll order in few days two pieces of NVIDIA GT690.
There are many CUDA cores inside ( over 3000 per card )
I hope that i soon can use this two gtx690 for wcg.

3000 cores, but how ''specialized'' are these? Reminds me of the RISC processors. Where did they go?

Here are my GPUs, now crunching away on POEM tasks as I await HCC GPU (and maybe other project) tasks.

#1 AMD 1090T X6 @ 3.9 GHz, ATI HD 6790;#2 AMD 1090T X6 @ 4.0 GHz HD 6570- both Win7 64 bit Ultimate

i know that CUDA Tesla Cards are better for this.
i will use this cards at first for forensic things like rar. and hash cracking.
But maybe they are also usefull for wcg.

Re: What GPU's would you bring to the WCG table?

Currently running an Asus GeForce 9600GT Silent on Seti@Home (didn't get any GPU WCG Betas for some reason, don't ask me why), but am about to switch to an Asus HD6870 either tonight or tomorrow the latest. I know, not quite the GT690s I saw above shock , but then again, I'm not a gamer and I actually use my PC.

Cheers! peace

Re: What GPU's would you bring to the WCG table?

6xx series are BAD at OpenCl. Unless they fix them via driver updates, I doubt this will change personally. 5xx seems best for this project, but ATI will dominate here.

570's are beating my 680. Nice cards, but for GPGPU, they have to be coded for them, work way better on CUDA tasks than OpenCl

Re: What GPU's would you bring to the WCG table?

Just bought a GTX 670,
it's sweet for gaming (my excuse for buying it)
But it's running around the milky way atm
waiting for WCG. 1348 cores I think?
Once WCG gets it going,
I'll read all your reviews and get the best one for WCG
for my wifes computer :)

Also have a gtx 560 in another machine,
sent a friend who needed some graphics power
my old GTX 295, he promised to start crunching.
so I have room for another card someday in the
old alienware.

Re: What GPU's would you bring to the WCG table?

Hi 5pot,

You may be right, I just thought that since my mobo has an ATI chipset, it would make sense to finally switch my graphics card to ATI too... So far, mixed results as Boinc doesn't seem to always detect my GPU and I blame that on the drivers.

Trying to work out the problem now. I'm also considering keeping the 9600 for GPU computing only while using the 6870 for everything else.

Cheers!

Re: What GPU's would you bring to the WCG table?

I have lots of GPUs, from Nvidia 210 to multiple Nvidia 480s. I currently do about 770,000 BOINC points a day, 70,000 WCG CPU generated points and 700,000 GPU generated points. Once WCG supports GPUs, I will be dedicating all of my GPU's to WCG. If the ratios stay the same, I could increase my WCG contribution by a factor of 10.

All of my CPUs are currently dedicated to WCG, and all of my GPUs are spread over multiple projects. As you can see from my project point totals, in the chart below, GPUs generate far more BOINC points than CPUs.
