Geokamayoc... you are ahead of me... I still need 25 days to get the C4CW silver badge. I'm also trying to get silver in DSFL & HPF2, so who knows when I'll actually get it... but it's fun going after objectives/targets/milestones.

Clean Water jumped yesterday, first time since long, to over 200,000 validated results in a day... see http://bit.ly/WCGCCW

@CJSL....
don't worry, i run ONLY the clean water project. As a WCG member, my purposes are : - a bronze badge for HFCC (done) - a silver badge for C4CW after, i will maybe go on another compunting project or run WCG more slowly. |

I am still plunking out WUs, but it seems very slow since they restarted. I was picking up about three days of crunch for every 24-hours before the restart, but now it is down to about 2.25 days.

Hi,
If you go to My Grid > My Projects, you can in one move select only C4CW as your chosen project and apply that in one action to all your computers, which would then maximize your Clean Water effort. Of course, leaving the devices on 24/7 and setting the "Run Always" in the BOINC Manager *activity* menu will make sure that every spare cycle will work for this research. Thanks for crunching at WCG. --//-- |

Not sure if this is what thomas meant, but I've noticed that C4CW units have been running slower also. It used to take about 3 and half hours for me to get through a 3 hour unit. Now it takes over 4 hours. The CPU time per unit has stayed about the same, but for whatever reason the total throughput has been reduced. Before I saw this post I figured it was just my machine, but now I wonder if the work units have somehow changed.

thomas/wchoff, what "may" be happening, is, for whatever reason, your computer isn't being as efficient as it once was. This could be for a number of reasons - two of which, are; a) you're/something is using your computer's cycles more - and therefore, not as much processing is going towards crunching these units, or b) your computer isn't as efficient as perhaps it originally was (i.e., the cooling system may not be as efficient - and therefore, your computer is "throttling back" on it's crunching).
----------------------------------------What you don't state (although I'm interpretting from your writing), is that you're seeing the "wall clock" time lengthen - i.e., the amount of physical time it takes to complete a WU, as opposed to the CPU time (i.e., the time that's sent back/reported to the WCG servers). ![]() |
