15 core IB, hmm. If this thing supports HT that would be 30 simultaneous work units. That would make me swap out my oldest system... Yup, HT..60 threads on a dualie.. Serious drool! Puts my dual hex systems to shame. ![]() 1 Dual hex X5670 w/7950 1 Dual hex X5650 w/7870 OC 1 3770K w/6950

I currently have 3 PC's for a total of 6 cores, and I have one GPU.
They are all running linux, two are laptops, and one is a tower. The two laptops I have bought for school, and one of which is only on during the day while I am in my office working on it, the other laptop stays at home and crunches basically 24/7. The tower, I got via a friend whos employer was running a technology recylcing program, as they need to pay for each PC recycled, they were told, they could take parts/ machines, without any HD's and do with them as they pleased. So I got the tower for basically the cost of shipping, ( though a few hundred dollars we needed to get the parts I needed to make it runnable, and get a GPU). I live in a small appartment so I tell myself in the winter while I have higher electricity bills the heating bill is less, so its a win win. But in the summer I often throttle back my crunching, on the very very hot days. |
