....entirely agree, put it in a post in the Feedback?suggestion forum. We then may start a trend and push through to the Admins ![]() I have previously raised the team sign-up defaults. Also the need for a link to "My Team" on WCG emails to members similar to the link already given to "My Statistics" and got support from Keith Henry at My OnLine Team. See thread No harm in reiterating though and adding ideas about Project selection and geographical locator. I'll put an email/forum post together. ![]() |

I see there are quite a few in the team that list themselves as International, rather than in the UK! ![]() http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=team&proj=bwcg&team=2210# I think it's because the default setting on sign-up is "International". You actually have to choose "UK". It's the same as the issue with disclosing email addresses to Team Captains when signing up for a team. Default is "don't disclose". knreed talked (in the video) about the difficulties new users have in deciding on Project selection (when there are projects to select). New users need to be spoonfed so:
@ crooks_uk See para 2 in Apis Tintinnambulator post above. Is it "swapping" that causes you problems when rendering? Good afternoon team, My best performance is when I am rendering as my run when idle only machines are in effect idle, and get to run 24/7, with WCG using the spare cores/all cores when the rendering completes. The exception is when I render in Revit as this uses all cores (Navis only uses one core). My biggest issue is that long running workunits time out on my idle only machines when they are being used frequently, as they may only by idle for say 20 minutes a day some weeks. The good news is that I have made 5 years runtime for CEP-P2 in the lunchtime update, so have switched all resources away from this project.
Be a part of the largest UK team:

FAAH/FAHV
----------------------------------------knreed Oct 9, 2013 3:29:21 PM We are trying to maintain a steady supply of both Autodock and Vina work for the project. Right now there is a lot more Vina provided by the Scripps team so it has a higher weighting. It is going to go back and forth though based on their needs. |

I have changed my strategy for crunching on my personal PC.
----------------------------------------During the day I have set the BOINC CPU max to 70%. this seems to be a good compromise between giving a decent chunk of CPU over to WCG yet still having the computer properly responsive. Then at night, or when I am away from my desk I simply change the max CPU on the BOINC client to 100%. With my new water cooling the CPU settles to a reasonable 60C. Before the water cooling it went to over 85C at 100% The PC is drawing about 100W at 100% and over night that is about 10p. During the day, assuming I run at 70% for most of the day and at 100% for a few hours I reckon it costs about 25p. That is just 35p per day... not bad at all IMHO. ![]() 1) Home PC - Win10, Intel I7-4770, 32GB - on 24/7 75% CPU 2) Heart Internet VPS - Linux Centos7, 2 cores, 2GB Ram, 50% 3) Azure VM - Linux Centos7, 2 cores, 2GB Ram, dedicated 100% |

There's a substantial new post from jhindo WCG Chief Admin here .
----------------------------------------The key message is the new Cancer project BETAs are still not ready for release They also appear to be addressing some of my concerns here about how and when they disseminate information |
