Re: Mapping Cancer Markers Beta Test - Version 7.27 [ Issues Thread ]

Rob,

I do my best to break things and hope the results themselves will give an insight. On this round, I had two identical machines that I powered off three times. Every task on those two went invalid. As a control, the machines I let run through validated no problems.

These are Opterons running Ubuntu.

I had a total of 66 WUs on 4 platforms. I did suspend/resume as often as I could. Three WUs are still pending and two are invalid. One of those invalid units (BETA_MCM1_0000144_7899) was sent out 5 times and came back with 4 different results!

https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/devi...s.do?workunitId=920652770

The invalid units ran on an Intel Core i7 with openSUSE 12.3. This system is otherwise very stable.

7899_ 0: Result.out = 1604118.000000
7899_ 1: Result.out = 1603947.000000
7899_ 2: Result.out = 1604071.000000
7899_ 3: Result.out = 1603927.000000
7899_ 4: Result.out = 1604118.000000

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers Beta Test - Version 7.27 [ Issues Thread ]

We were able to track down a bug in the restart code that seems to be causing the majority of the invalids. We are currently running that fix in our alpha environment and would expect it to enter beta as early as tomorrow.

Thanks,
armstrdj

Great news, i will do my best to participate biggrin

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers Beta Test - Version 7.27 [ Issues Thread ]

Just returned two 218s each having more than 11hours CPU time, both validated even after machine reboot, unexpected shutdown (laptop battery drained) and soft suspend/resumes. The only "strange" thing about them is that my wingmen completed those WUs in about half the time or less. Go figure! confused

Still have 5 other WUs on PV, but don't really expect any surprises there.

Cheers! peace

Edit:
Current score:
31 WUs completed
4 Invalids (same machine - PC)
22 Valid
5 Pending Validation

Is 'Tomorrow' the 13th, our side of the pond? Not that it matters here, since our unlucky number is considered the 17th.

Anyways, like everyone will agree... bring it on. :D

Hmmm, a Beta run close to database maintenance, that would complicate things sad

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers Beta Test - Version 7.27 [ Issues Thread ]

I ran 27 tasks without any problems. I did multiple reboots, especially the _218 tasks.

I'm pleased that it got me to silver a silver badge - hurray!

BETA_ MCM1_ 0000218_ 9084_ 5-- Too Late 11.12.2013 04:44:18 12.12.2013 09:25:25 27.22 / 27.32 481.0 / 0.0

The longest beta task here and to no avail. :( Next time seems better to abort job than to run over time limit.

Not necessarily: keep watching the Credit Granted figure. The techs make allowances for these circumstances and run scripts to award credit. They have acknowledged that "Too Late" is a misnomer for this situation.
