I keep updateing the project but no Ebola WU is downloaded, anyone knows why? Please select other projects until OET1 gets more work :) AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

Well, considering that there's such a hue and cry over the shortage of OET WU's, someone's certainly taking their time in crunching through them... I've got 1 WU in PV state, through waiting for this particular unit to be crunched... OET1_0000149_xEBGP_1808_0-- - In Progress 15/12/14 20:52:06 25/12/14 20:52:06 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 I'm not now in a hurry to get it validated - as I've got my Bronze Badge (and slowly progressing towards my Silver), although it does add a different dimension to the "there's no WU's available" theme... OET1_ 0000152_ xEBGP_ 0411_ 0-- - Pending Validation 12/16/14 01:19:28 12/16/14 05:57:23 2.30 / 2.32 49.5 / 0.0 8 days in PV jail. I guess the maximum is 10 since that's the due date! Overall, my number in jail has fallen dramatically. The WUs are now being released more often at the moment. I take it as a good omen ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

8 days in PV jail. I guess the maximum is 10 since that's the due date! Sandvika, unfortunately not - as, yes, after 10 days, a new WU will be created to cover that "no reply", although then there's no actual guarantee that this WU will be returned promptly. Yes, there's a very good chance - although I have experienced in the past, a "no reply" on a "no reply". ![]() |

Talking of which, I have received a rework OET module with a very short deadline which is presumably such a case so someone can get out of jail soon as it's almost done ![]() I spoke too soon regarding the improved frequency of WU availability as it now appears to have stopped dead, except for the rework, which is presumably automatic upon becoming overdue. Maybe since WUs were in such short supply anyway we won't see any more until after the holidays. Merry Christmas and don't crunch the ![]() ![]() ![]() |

It is not unusual in IT projects to start small and ramp up to full load. But why ask for MORE crunchers when you KNOW that you can't feed them yet? |

Got some small amount of them in the morning (UTC) flow, but noting since. Fortunately, I am going to reach my mid-term goal (Yellow Badge) with the current queue and then I am moving to FA@H ![]() Cheers and ![]() ![]() ![]() Crunching@Home since January 13 2000. I wish people would stop making promises and assurances they have no control over. People got angry when DDDT2 was released. We were all assured there would be plenty of work for all and to essentially stop complaining. Have all of you forgotten what happened? That is right. The project ended abruptly. I understand why it did. But the point is that you shouldn't be making promises you can't deliver. There is no guarantee we will see anything until we see it.
----------------------------------------I agree that the PR people goofed big time. I have heard many people outside these forums complain about the lack of work after being lured here. I too have been annoyed by having multiple emails, tweets, Facebook posts all telling me that I can use my tablet/phone help with Ebola research. I will not recommend anyone to come here to help with the Ebola work until there is enough to go around. I will hype up the other causes. My $.02 on the PR blitz is that it is perfect timing to ride on the fear of the masses caused by all the media outlets creating "outbreak" scare tactics in places that aren't even close to an outbreak. Very little is needed to convince people to take some kind of action when they are scared. But for those that take the steps to get BOINC setup and then get their preferences at WCG set just right (no this is not a simple task for most even with the multiple posts saying how easy it is) this is a huge let down. Please stop trying to justify that there is other work to do. Not everyone cares. There are a lot of motivations to choose the science we do. I'm not crunching just because someone else has work. I crunch the projects that I want to crunch. That doesn't make my anger any less valid. If I came here for an attempt to help find cures for ebola, I would be insulted by your suggestions to just crunch something else. Something else didn't lure me here in this case. Again, just my $.02. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Coleslaw at Dec 24, 2014 11:59:40 PM] |

yes i remember when dddt2 ended short.... but they had good reasons to i dont remember what they were at the time.
----------------------------------------yes the PR people probably messed up by over doing the pr on a new project without a lot of work units available yes Ebola is big in the news so its a good time to strike... and yes i wish there were more work units available... but i am waiting. ![]() |

Luckily, I never screwed up anything and told people the wrong thing; getting their expectations up and then not delivering.
----------------------------------------Oh wait.... I am human dang it.... Merry Christmas or whatever you celebrate to WCG contributors and all others that want peace and good will towards all men. I am so so sorry that this excludes some. |
