At the moment I'm sitting in front of a fire as it's about 5 degrees outside What a similarity: At the moment I'm sitting in front of my computers as it's cold outside. -Uplinger A big warm THANK YOU to WCG for heating my flat! ![]() ![]() Ask not what the world can do for you - ask what you can do for the world. |

We have just posted a News article saying that we have no new tasks to send out. Previously we were sending out a small amount of work per day, but currently there is not work to send. https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/about_us/viewNewsArticle.do?articleId=408 Thanks for your patience, -Uplinger ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Sandvika at Jan 1, 2015 5:48:04 PM] |

I have to say that I'm getting rather exasperated at the lack of WU's - I have managed to process 12 in total!! Despite being in from the start and also in the beta programme beforehand - where I got more beta WU's than I have had actual ones since - to say that they are scarce is an understatement!! Perhaps those who have achieved badges would opt to back off and deselect OET, thus giving new crunchers and those who would like the chance to process a few WU's the chance to do so and maybe gain a bronze badge??? I was also there from the start and only got 6. |

I was also there from the beginning, but I was luckier than the last three who commented since I got 144 WUs for less than 14 days. I have nothing on my systems for OET at this time. I recall seeing something from Uplinger saying he has no new tasks to send out. How long before new ones are available?

WCG year is 365 days, so you seems to be safe ![]() Yes, and if they ever change the math to 365.25, I'll lose a bunch of my Sapphire badges on since closed projects. ---------[]---------- Mapping Cancer Markers -- 2:000:06:42:25 The Clean Energy Project -- 2:000:01:03:00 Say No to Schistosoma -- 2:005:08:42:54 GO Fight Against Malaria -- 2:000:02:33:36 Drug Search for Leishmaniasis -- 2:000:07:30:19 Computing for Clean Water -- 2:000:01:08:04 Help Fight Childhood Cancer --2:000:08:27:54 Help Conquer Cancer -- 2:000:12:37:14 Human Proteome Folding -- 2:000:06:35:07 [Edit 1 times, last edit by 52 Aces at Jan 2, 2015 7:11:56 PM] |

WCG year is 365 days, so you seems to be safe ![]() Now that the crunching is done, going by last night's stats I was initially on 365.70 days including valid results and 367.95 days including those in PV jail. However, there has been a steady trickling away of WUs in the 'valid' state. I don't know what that means... If I go by what's visible now, I'm on 361.83 days validated, 364.07 including those in PV jail. However, if the lunchtime stats update is to be believed, I am going to fall well short because at that time my last 6 WUs were being crunched, which would only leave them and the 2 days worth in PV jail - about 359 days in total. 6 days may seem like a lot but it would mean I was 6 hours short per core, which over the course of the month of the project is practically nothing at all! I've resigned myself to 357 days on the next stats update and I'm not staying up to wait and see! I can't match 52 Aces for badge earning precision - in fact I don't recall there being badges during my first stint on WCG in 2007. My long hiatus was due to my previous PC overheating and crashing, as well as the CPU fan screaming intolerably like a ninja when crunching. Moore's law has ensured that what was a fair amount of effort then is peanuts now (except on OET ![]() FightAIDS@Home == 0:103:23:13:27 (I can improve on this ![]() Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together == 0:011:04:35:54 Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy == 0:004:14:47:53 Genome Comparison == 0:007:19:13:05 Human Proteome Folding - Phase 2 == 0:162:23:00:53 ![]() ![]() |

Sandvika, good luck with your hopes for squeezing in a badge upgrade - you might be pleasantly surprised.
----------------------------------------As for in fact I don't recall there being badges during my first stint on WCG in 2007. , yes, you are correct. The first badge level, was introduced on 15/01/2008 for 14 days - there were 4 projects that ended before the badge system was introduced. Then three levels of badges were introduced on 24/09/2008 (Bronze, Silver & Gold), followed by three additional levels of badges being introduced on the 14/07/2009 - Ruby, Emerald & Sapphire.![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by gb009761 at Jan 2, 2015 11:59:08 PM] |
