Re: Best bang-for-the-buck Android device

I have been running an Odroid XU3 Lite for a couple months and its screaming thru work units. Just got the new XU4 for $75 and it is even faster. Plus it only takes 10 watts. 8 WUs at a time for 10 watts. The procs run at 1.4 and 1.8Ghz.

Family Dollar local ad has the ZTE Whirl 2 (dual core) advertised for $10 USD until end of the month. YMMV

Re: Best bang-for-the-buck Android device

I found 2 LG Optimus Fuel phones (Dual core 1.2 with 512mb memory) at Family Dollar for $10 each.

With both cores working each phone is using around 1.5 watts and there is still 80mb of memory free according to the task manager. OET work units take about 12 hours from what I've seen so far.

Re: Best bang-for-the-buck Android device

Hello mymbtheduke ,
What kind of projects are running on your ODROID XU3 Lite and how long they need to about computation time?
I'm just a ODROID to buy XU4.

Re: Best bang-for-the-buck Android device

Within wcg you only have the choice to run oet or fah, where fah is close to the end.
Runtimes vary in a broad range, from 30 minutes up to 12 hrs and sometimes more. Specially oet has longer runtimes on android.

Re: Best bang-for-the-buck Android device

Family Dollar still has Whirl 2 and Optimus Fuels on sale. I saw that Dollar General in my area had both on sale for $10 as well. YMMV

Re: Best bang-for-the-buck Android device

Still Alive: I am running an XU4 and XU3 Lite. A7 procs generally take 8-10 hours and A15 procs take 5 -6 hours. Frankly, these little computers are screaming through the WUs. The $74 XU4 is a WCG dream. I wish more projects would run on it. I was running FAH and OET for awhile but now it is only OET. Still 8 procs at 1.3Ghz for 10 watts is really good. I also have 4 high end cell phones and two tablets crunching. So I am doing about 26 days per day.
