Keep getting stat_v03.png and wcg_v01.png file download failure.
Therefore can't download any more WUs. I have rebooted the laptop.

Re: download failure

Don't be surprised it is your outdated version of client. You need 7.2.42/.47 for full certificate matching.

Saw that work is underway for a new WCG version at Berkeley, so would not surprised if in the coming months there will be a 7.6 download coming out.

Re: download failure

Uninstalled 7.0.64 and then tried to install newer version of BOINC for it to fail.

Re: download failure

Installed 7.2.47 after about 4 failed installs.

Now wont add project, so not crunching.

If not working by end of the day, I will remove my laptop from crunching WCG.

The higher version failed to install or the download of the particular files failed?

Stat_v03.png is a WCG logo file and wcg_v01.png is the black logo with WCG. Why would there be new? (hmmm, the timestamps have renewed yesterday right after the logograte reset it seems). I have the new and running 7.6.2 (Win), 7.6.3 (Win)and 7.6.12 (Linux). No probs.

Re: download failure

Sorry for the mess [WCG techs sure would have to be]. Uninstall, boot, reinstall, boot may fix this.

The upgrade failed.
So I uninstalled all BOINC software and installed 7.2.47 for it to now not want to add a project.
so it is just running doing nothing.
Client just reports that it is exitting unexpectedly, about every minute.
Rebooting the laptop does not solve the problem.

Re: download failure [Sorted for now]

Finally got it to work:

Went into registry and deleted entrys
Deleted one of the BOINC folders on the HD.
Rebooted
Installed 7.2.47 as a service
rebooted

Re: download failure [Sorted for now]

Proper ownerships is critical [what was the exact download error message?]. Usually running a 'Repair' with the same installer fixes those, but uninstalling, booting, installing, booting, would do that [maybe not]. Service install certainly sets permissions narrower [safer], then adding the option 'Allow All Users', ensures all can run the BOINC Manager and do the project attaching.
