Well, I have 1 i7 8 threads PC, 3 Atom 4 cores machines, 2 Pentium 4 HT, 1 Pentium M and 1 Pentium 4 single core, and 2 Core 2 Duo machines, + 3 instances in the cloud single core, and it is very rare that I get TB tasks in all of those machines, all of which crunches 24/7 without interruptions. According to my tasks I return between 70 - 150 tasks per day, and It is still rare that I get a task for this project...
----------------------------------------33 cores dedicated to WCG and I think I get 1 task per 2 weeks or so... ![]() ![]() |

So far I still have only received 2 WU's since the project started, signed up for this project within the first 24 hours of it going active. Is there any firm answer as to when WU's will stop being so sparsely distributed? Between this and the lack of available WU's from CEP2 I'm getting kind of frustrated

Sending a request for more tasks at hh:03 and hh:33 seems to work as PMH_UK said earlier. It takes careful timing and a lot of baby sitting. If there are only about a hundred or so tasks released every half hour, it would be nice if they were trickled out, a couple every minute so anyone can have a chance of getting something. The way it is now, either the linux guys can put in auto requests for those times or you have to really watch carefully. By trickling them out, then the random requests that most of us have to use stand a small chance of getting the occasional task. Can this be a change that could be made? This puts everyone on a more level playing field.

I'm running 10 cores and one GPU on two Macs, and I get 1-2 HST per day. The rest of the day is filled with OET. I check once or twice a day, and if I see HST in my queue, I force it to run without waiting for its turn.

There are plenty of tasks available for other research areas. I'm curious why people are so absorbed with this one.

Wow! The world must be coming to an end.... During the night (USA), I got three HST with estimated dates of about 30-34 hours.
----------------------------------------My method of forcing the HST to run is to (a) Suspend all non-running WU, and then (b) Suspend the number of running WU (greatest time for completion) to get all the HST to run. Then (c) I Resume all the WU that are suspended. I get a penalty in Suspending running WU since they restart at the last checkpoint. If any of you Mac users know of a better way to force HST to run before their allotted time, I'm all ears. So far, I've lived with this penalty since it doesn't occur very often. I'm getting close to a silver badge for HST, but I need a few more WU. Maybe if I go back to bed.... ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by Allen008 at Apr 20, 2016 4:04:37 PM] |
