I'll skip fetching till the long show up again... else I'll end up reading the ridiculous credit thread again ;P)
(Maybe Techs could make that an option on the device profiles, long or short?... but consistent length on a device is what you want). |

It would be nice to get either short or longs only and not necessarily a mix. As I found out, if one has ones queue set up for picking up a pile of shorts and all of the sudden sucks down a pile of longs, life gets interesting for the next week playing catch up. I could do either (I'm doing 24+hr long ones on FAHB for some time now without issues), it is just the mix that can be a killer.
That and maybe a few zillion more HST1 WUs in the queue to finally dump a pile of WUs on all the folks on this forum complaining about starving to death from lack of HST1 WUs in their life .... ![]() |

Looks like I'm going to cut it close - I now have 2.15 Days worth of HST1 WUs to complete with 2.20 Days to go before the deadline on them. This is only a total of 10 WUs now, so if I do miss a deadline on some of them, it may be only on a couple of them (maybe 2 to 4 total) which isn't bad given the screen full of them I had on my laptop about six days ago.

It's been years since World Community Grid has seen this many issues with something such as HST. How many weeks has it been now?
Most individual users have only processed a few units. Quite disappointing |

My systems went dry again. I've only received 5 workunits since this project started...

I have processed one WU now in PV. There's lots of other work out there- POEM, GPUGrid, Asteroids, Einstein, Ebola, MCM, Folding at Home...................

To those who are frustrated by the slow start of HST1:
----------------------------------------Any WCG project needs to tread carefully at the start. Firstly the technical issues need to be tested in a production environment ... results data handling & storage, stability of the science software, reliability of the WU generation process, ..., ... Then some of the results would need to be examined to see whether they seem to be useful. You'd be even more frustrated if you'd contributed several CPU-years and then it was found that you'd only generated a whole lot of garbage. HST project scientist chrismhunter made a relevant post here on 25 March 16 in the Welcome to the Help Stop TB Project thread: "... The more detailed one if interested: 90% of the returned data are only needed to create new WUs based on your results. Approx 10% is cumulative data. Further, we will also include much faster running WUs with a different balance. We expect a data accumulation of 50GB/day in peak time, which will further be analysed and reduced on our end. However, this workflow needs careful testing (data flow, bandwidth synchronisation etc), which is the reason for a relatively "slow" start."
