On this sixth day of July we'll pay some attention to the chart of 06-07-1974. A new entry at number 38 in the Dutch Top 40, the first one of his six hits, Tony Sherman -- Tonight.

Neat music, Captain
but no Carol Beer ![]() and no new Base Campers arrived in spite of looking in all nooks, crannies - even in sheds in Horse**** Country in Southern California I would have cried ![]() - which only serve to make things even worser ![]() |

Do you think that Carol, taking care of business at the frontdesk, is scaring away our patien^H^H^H^H^H^Hfellow members, mevrouw Kleine Zeemeermin, min of meer?
We're returning to our hospital where Carol Beer is having a lunchbreak till two o'clock: Part 4 - when a woman with her arm in a sling enters … On this seventh day of July we'll pay some attention to the chart of 07-07-1973. A new entry at number 28 in the Dutch Top 40, a rock-'n-roll-band: Long Tall Ernie and The Shakers -- Turn Your Radio On. Shall we have a quick look at the sleeve of the vinyl single? ![]() |

'You're in luck! I found the complaint form .....'
Noooo, Adri, how should that scare anyone away? The lady asked for a complaint form, didn't she? Please say you have more Carol Beers up your sleeve ![]() I for one like your retro music, too. Well, I have tried to be the opposite of Carol Beer for a very long time, and that hasn't helped one iota ![]() Might as well return to being my good old real me ![]() ![]() Do you have any advice as to boosting this entreprise further, Captain? Perhaps we should just be satisfied with what we have - it isn't all bad, is it? ![]() |

On this eighth day of July we'll pay some attention to the chart of 08-07-1978. A new entry at number 29 in the Dutch Top 40, Massada -- Latin Dance.
----------------------------------------Another delightful sleeve to add to our growing collection of vinyl singles: ![]() While the lady is filing a complaint against the hospital with Carol Beer we'll be forced to get to a police station to get some other report filed. It looks as if it has something to do with our 'vehicle' and it may seem that our car perhaps got a little scratch somewhere, so let's see what is happening inside. Lovely music, Captain adriverhoef, and I must say that the Fry & Laurie sketch
is an excellent substitute for Carol Beer while she's off on a weekend trip ![]() You do expect her back Monday morning at her service desk, I assume ![]() As to the car it was OK right up to those two limp airbags … ![]() I think my sentiments about airbags are very similar to those of yours about c*** coal are Don’t you think those rags just look utterly pittiful? ![]() |

While I don't know if we'll see Carol Beer back at the hospital, let's go to a branch of our bank today and get some financial advice. There we are. Whom do we get to speak to? Our new financial advisor of course. Let's sit down and see ... hey, that's a familiar face! This is interesting, do we qualify for the Advantage Executive Premier Gold account and do we get free travel insurance included?
Mevrouw Kleine Zeemeermin, I have a question. Did you notice … did Carol catch anything at the hospital? I'm not talking about some fish, I mean something bad. ![]() ![]() On this ninth day of July we'll pay some attention to the chart of 09-07-1977. A new entry at number 18 in the Dutch Top 40, this group was a rock-'n-roll-band in the sixties and later on the band changed its repertoire to a more popular sound in the mid seventies by acquiring a female lead singer. The band is BZN and the song is called Sevilla. Through the years they scored a fantastic lot of 55 hits (compare this to The Rolling Stones: 53 hits) and come in second after Madonna (57 hits), who actually had 55 songs ("Holiday" was three times a hit). BZN actually stands for "band without a name" (Band Zonder Naam). Here's the sleeve of the vinyl single: ![]() |

That Seville was OK
- in fact it was less rock'n roll than borderline Bierhalle … ![]() Yes, Carol Beer’s new job as a financial advisor has not done her good. I noticed she had a slight cough at one of the former episodes, and in one of them she came a little too close for comfort to being kind ![]() Now, her cough has developed, and she cannot move her arms sideways any more. ![]() Did you notice a new Base Camper: NiX Chix - joined our top40.nl 2.0 trek last night? You have no idea how good it feels to have someone cross a number of canals and jump right into our dry wetland meadow and pitch his tent and say he decided to trek with us! And then he began to make conversation ![]() ![]() It's like a piece of heaven ![]() I look forward to seeing the challenge statistics – it shall no longer be a secret that I have a secret dream about us passing Team Andrax … – tanner2 promised to return – I have whole bag of pecks on the cheek for him. We shall not run out in any near future. I happened to open the drawer with children’s songs this morning. It sticks with me. I don't think your field of work normally goes this far. My Cat Tangoes |

In the latest episode of our Carol Beer story we saw that she still had this strange cough that she seems to have developed at the hospital. Even Fry & Laurie are concerned about her: "Carol, how are you?"
On this tenth day of July we'll pay some attention to the chart of 10-07-1971. A new entry at number 29 in the Dutch Top 40: Focus -- Hocus Pocus. This was actually the first hit version of the song. In 1973 a new version of the song entered the charts. More info: Focus singer and composer Thijs van Leer tells the story behind their seventies hit Hocus Pocus. It turns out that Hocus Pocus started off as an improvisation. The sleeve of the vinyl single is showing us this picture: ![]() |

![]() Stephen Fry is such a likeable Carol Beer substitute ![]() That Carol in the intercom is fake, Adri! I remember watching a TV-series where he toured the USA in a London cab; it was a good one. If it wasn't I would have forgotten it, I suppose ... it must have been the better part of 10 years ago. You have chosen a nice theme ![]() which it would have been called had we known what we know today. The hotel theme. Perhaps we need some food. We shall eat COLD food, nothing shall be charred ![]() A picnic basket with bread from Denmark, stefada's Roquefort, a selection of Dutch cheeses, and wine from California. ![]() Green grass! Ours in Denmark is thoroughly yellow and brown from the drought and the grain harvest is busy, two weeks earlier than usual. There are many implications for the farmers such as not having sufficient straw for neither the cows who get slaughtered nor for filling the contracts with the district heating plants .... Do you still have green grass in the Netherlands? |
