Re: Team top40.nl

While a large part of the grass outside is showing its yellow colours, another customer is visiting Carol Beer's office; she — the customer — was robbed (good heavens!) crying and now needs new creditcards. Carol is helping her. She cares for her clients, expressing her sympathy.
Since the aspect ratio of that video is far from optimal, here we have one with a much better quality, but the intro is missing.

On this eleventh day of July, first we'll pay some attention to the chart of 11-07-1992. We can bounce along with the hardcore sound of Rotterdam Termination Source -- Poing, a new entry at number 25. We can take a quick look at its vinyl sleeve here: and then switch to some other year.
Let's pay some attention to the chart of 11-07-1981. There we have another interesting newcomer at number 34. It's Daniel Sahuleka's first hit:
We'll Go Out Tonight.
Hopefully you weren't scared away by Poing, that's why I decided to pick two songs. Here's the sleeve of Daniel Sahuleka's vinyl single:

Re: Team top40.nl

Well, that Rotterdam thing seemed to be more demanding for the drummer than for the composer devilish
Thank you for balancing this music with 'We'll Go Out Tonight'

Oh, you did have another Carol Beer up your sleeve hugs
That cough is awful! Why don't they dispense some cough syrup?
After all she works at a hospital .... and her arms!
Somebody from physiotherapy should mobilize them
- she cannot even cover her mouth when coughing, poor girl.

Oh, and that intro! I wouldn't have missed that for all the good quality in the world.
It's so inspirational idea for where to put those little black plastic bags, Tessa fills .... alien 1

Re: Team top40.nl

That was also such an inspirational comment, mevrouw Kleine Zeemeermin, thank you for that! laughing

On this twelfth day of July we'll pay some attention to the chart of 12-07-1969.
A new entry at number 17 in the Dutch Top 40: Shocking Blue -- Venus. The song peaked at number 3 in the Top 40 for 5 weeks. The song was also released worldwide. Because the song became very successful in the United States (it even reached number 1 there on 07-02-1970), Venus was re-released in 1970 and re-entered the Dutch Top 40 in January of 1970. Again the song peaked at number 3, for two weeks, in February, one week after reaching number one in the USA. The song was also succesfully covered by Bananarama, amongst others, and by Stars On 45 in a medley.
Why is this song so special? Because Venus was the first Dutch single ever to top the US charts; also — with this single — Shocking Blue became the first Dutch group ever to get to number one in the Billboard Hot 100, of course.
Let's have a look at the sleeve of Shocking Blue's vinyl single, here it is:
… and that's the American one.

Now, also a new entry in the same Dutch Top 40 of 12-07-1969, at number 40: Tee-Set -- Ma Belle Amie.
In the end it reached number 5 in the Billboard Hot 100, one month after Venus reached number one.
It also just happened that Venus and Ma Belle Amie were recorded in the same studio with the same technician.
We're taking a look now at the sleeve of the vinyl single:

Let's not forget the chart of 12-07-1986. A new entry at number 27: M.C. Miker "G" & Deejay Sven -- Holiday Rap. If you're listening (closely or not) you'll recognize two songs: "Summer Holidays" by Cliff Richard and of course Madonna's "Holiday".
By reading this message you agree to take a peek at the sleeve of Holiday Rap: wink

Re: Team top40.nl

When I read what you know about just one piece of music (Venus) I bow in the dust.
I really believe you and Jørgen (de) Mylius would enjoy meeting each other.

Well, you don't know him; neither do I, but I have listened to him a good deal,
and also seen him perform live a couple of years ago.
He's retired now, but uses his knowledge to earn 'pocket money' by taking engagements
and has a Danish website inclusive of e-mail.

I'm sorry we are unable to perform better at the challenges, Captain.
On the other hand: It could be much worser.

One thing is that your grass is turning yellow in the Netherlands like ours in Denmark,
but how about the water level in your canals and such?
Ocean water could level it out, but I suppose your not interested in letting in saline water?

Re: Team top40.nl

We all know that banks are notoriously generous, if you'll ever get your account overdrawn, they let you keep the money for free! Carol Beer is such a fine example of a dedicated employee. Listening to the needs of the customer, being helpful at the computer, you name it (we play it). (Men vraagt en wij draaien.) In this scene she is asked (by Anthony, a colleague of hers) if she is willing to take part in a fun run in aid of Comic Relief.

Some people said the mere vision of Carol Beer hurts their eyes, they cannot bear it any longer and have asked me if it is possible to have something other than her on their retinas (and still keep the audio, of course). A not so unusal request, so it seems, and urged if I could fulfill their request. Well, of course (keep that stick away, please). "Men vraagt en wij draaien." (You name it, we play it.) Let's see, 999 views for Carol Beer Episode 1: The Bank Drama (Sub special), maybe we can up this video.

There were others that said those Carol Beer videos take too long. Okay, then there = (is) this shorter video 4 U (short enough?).

On this thirteenth day of July, first we take a look at the chart of 13-07-1991. Do you remember we talked about Madonna's Holiday yesterday? In the Dutch Top 40 of 13-07-1991 this song is entering the chart for the third time (this time as an LP Edit version)! The two former entrances were in '84 and '85. Madonna is coming in at number 33 now (through the frontdoor).

Now we'll pay some attention to the chart of 13-07-1974. There's a new entry at number 25: the energetic and swinging sound of Catapult -- Let Your Hair Hang Down, catchy glitterrock in optima forma.
Before we take a look at another new entry, here's the sleeve of the vinyl single:

One other newcomer, this time at number 28, is Jack Jersey -- Pappa Was A Poor Man. With André Moss blowing the saxophone.
Did you see the sleeve of Pappa Was A Poor Man? No? Here it is:

Re: Team top40.nl

More inspiration for Tessa’s little black plastic bags …
We do not get all that many gurneys passing right here,
idea but we do have a nursing home for the elderly across from us ... they call the ambulance at regular intervals devilish

Oh, they still have not issued a prescription for cough syrup for Carol Beer sad
– and her arms still seem immobilized; she does look unwell.
I’m glad cmptr cooperates with her.
5 miles in her condition!
I’m worried worried

Who are those people who cannot have Carol Beer on their retinas?
- and prefer a purple RABBIT!
They ask and you spin, Captain adriverhoef shame on you
I would like my voice to be heard. I appreciate you digging up so many Carol Beer episodes
- well, I’m well on my way to addiction
Please do not substitute a purple rabbit for her,
and please do not cheat me out of inspirations for Tessa’s … you know devilish

Hey, Jack Jersey is as good as Elvis Presley – and his costume is great! biggrin

Re: Team top40.nl

----------
It's the WAR (*) !

While the glorious Team Kraland secured his 5th place at the 3NENSEI challenge, and it was still the case on Wednesday. The top40.nl dares to go ahead like that, look like nothing. Scandal !!!

I'm kidding of course ! And I'm glad to see, once again, when the Base Camp arrives, we see the difference in results. If you manage to mobilize two / three more crunchers, you can access the podium. Even if this challenge is very long, you have just the opportunity to enjoy the length of this trek.

* Translation : "It's not easy to be A Viking !"

Re: Team top40.nl

Yesterday, five years ago, Bastille entered the Dutch Top 40 at number 29 with the song Pompeii. It's Bastille day today, this fourteenth of July!

We will take a swift look at the chart of 14-07-1984. There's a new entry at number 32: Mai Tai -- What Goes On - they are three young ladies who don't want to move in this video and in this other video (with a special dance mix) they don't, too, so I also wonder what is going on. confused

Who are those people who cannot have Carol Beer on their retinas?
I think they are her former customers, mevrouw Kleine Zeemeermin. Maybe this agitated person was one of them.

Do we still have time? Because I nearly forgot to show the sleeve of the Mai Tai vinyl single that I mentioned above:

Re: Team top40.nl

Do you remember the pregnant woman in the hospital with her husband? This threesome

(who are in fact played by only one person) would like to do their impersonation act right now. I cannot refuse. So, go ahead, you three, do your best!

Re: Team top40.nl

Well, why those girls don't want to move, must remain a mystery, Captain adriverhoef.
But then again, why the Bastille guy does move this much must be in the mystery category as well ...
confused
That Waldorf salad guy ... he should have been kicked out the moment he began to work himself up frustrated
We cannot please people like that, can we?
In fact he deserves to have the Carol Beer treatment. Double time ... angry
praying May that cantankerous psychosis guy choke in the first Waldorf salad he meets on his way out of Faulty Towers not talking
Do you have a Sunday Carol Beer for us? batting eyelashes

I know you are a Faulty fan (I am, too), I'm a Family Guy fan as well I don't know if you are
- perhaps you need to have lived in Rhode Island to appreciate his charms rolling eyes
But Carol Beer beats them. I never recall having seen her before.

Well, it does look good, tho', the Waldorf salad tongue
Please join me, Captain smile
