Today we take a trainride again. I remember doing so on our 1st day of this month, too, when we took the summertrain with Sandy Coast. Well, the next group that we are going to see is related to that, because Hans Vermeulen, the frontman of the group Sandy Coast, brought the following band together: Rainbow Train.
On this fifteenth day of the Top40.nl 2.0 trek in July we are taking a peek at the chart of 15-07-1978. A new entry at number 29: Rainbow Train -- Heaven On Earth (composed and produced by Hans Vermeulen). (Please take a look at number 31, mevrouw Kleine Zeemeermin!) Oh, yes, mevrouw Kleine Zeemeermin, I love South Park and The Simpsons and I do appreciate Family Guy as well. (Don't have much time for it, though.) There was a temporary staff shortage at the hospital, so we had to get Carol Beer back at the reception for a day. A man with a very thick white scarf around his neck — makes it a bit impossible to look around with his head, I think — comes in and places his umbrella at Carol's desk. Please rewind the tape of this recording to 16 minutes and 37 seconds while we are looking at the sleeve of Heaven On Earth: ![]() EDIT (added): Something about a little girl and her inflatable purple crocodile that got lost … |

Heaven on Earth? Good melody, but
garters without the straps will never - I say NEVER - cut the mustard, adriverhoef ![]() Who was the producer of that video? ![]() Where is #31? Finding #31 on a up to #30 list and writing forms for 'Lost and Found' in blokletters is exactly what made me hate bureaucracy - and my self confidence is low enough to suspect I'm all wrong ![]() Aaaah! Below the commercials: 'Met De Flam in De Pijp' there it is! One of my upcoming Dutch lessons ![]() ![]() ![]() You can tell those 'Heaven on Earth' girls, that stay-up-stockings are as sexy as support ones ![]() Thank you for your Sunday Carol Beer ![]() Did you notice the Base Camp crew put you in the top40, top30, top20, top10 - the very, very top #1 spot in the Small Teams Race? ![]() Roll over thunder7 ![]() |

We're halfway through the month of July on our Top40.nl 2.0 trek. Thanks to our ever so popular colleague Carol Beer — she's being carried on hands everywhere — we are holding a Carol Beer impersonation contest today after the first one we received that was done so well; the contestant needs to make a skit of the little girl in the hospital who has to have her tonsils removed.
We seem to have three contestants. Here's our first one. It's erinyboom. Give her an applause, ladies and gentlemen! Then our next contestant, it is Lauren XProductions or should I just say Lauren X? Give her a round of applause, people! And if that wasn't enough, here's our third contestant, Tash Lev. Yes, clap your hands, people! This was it … Oh wait, we have one final contestant. This is Dizzy Callard. Also an applause for you, yes yes yes, thanks! There is so much talent! It's amazing. Don't you find they are all winners? Yes, thank you … so these were our contestants. Okay, in a few moments we will be making contact with our professional jury to hear their comments, but first … We are going to have a look at the chart of 16-07-1983 where Berdien Stenberg -- Rondo Russo (From Flute Concerto in e minor) enters the Dutch Top 40 at number 33. If I may have a look in your crystal ball, mevrouw Kleine Zeemeermin, I see that this instrumental track will be peaking at number 1 in a month (13-08-1983). Let's view the sleeve of the vinyl single: ![]() |

![]() It was such a pleasure watching those girls impersonating Carol Beer and the people she helps so ![]() You're right: What an abundance of talent. Professional jury? I'm glad we have such one, because I would not know where to place my vote if I had only one - but as an amateur jury I have given myself enough votes to vote for all of them ![]() |

Dear top40.nl 2.0 trekkers, sometimes it's hard to find a good quality receptionist video with enough context and sometimes we just have to settle with that what could be found in the available amount of time.
In this episode, Carol Beer offers a free piggy bank (oink oink) to a young boy, who's nearly six (where have I heard that before?), while his mother hears about entering a prize draw to win a free trip to EuroDisney. I am offering … - this really short version (without context); - this somewhat longer version (without intro); - this very low quality version, where you have to rewind the tape recording to 16:55, lasting 63 seconds; - this version (flipped, mirrored, horizontally reversed, slower and therefore longer), where you have to rewind the tape to 20:46, lasting 73 seconds. Next, we will have a look at the chart of 17-07-1971, because it's the seventeenth day of July today. A new entry at number 27: George Baker Selection -- Tonight. We'll conclude this posting with the image of the sleeve of the vinyl single: ![]() |

Captain adriverhoef, I realize you spend an awful lot of time dragging your net from wave to muddy bottom
to satisfy your helpers’ desire for Carol Beer episodes. We really appreciate your efforts. It was heartbreaking seeing the disappointment in the face of the little red-haired almost six year-old boy. Four times! However, this was nothing compared to the misery we find Carol Beer in. She really tries her best here. Caring and friendly. It’s so touching to watch the way she hands over the ORANGE ![]() ![]() That cough is killing her and it got her so distracted that she entered the little boy’s age in letters! So, of course cmptr said Noooo. So sad, so sad ![]() ![]() – the downside is: To many e-mails = too few pillar boxes ![]() Nice music – found some for you with a little more power. Gasolin doing Rabalderstræde – the blonde guitarist’s name was Franz Beckerlee. Would that sound Dutch to you? ![]() |

I'm glad you noticed the orange coloured piggy bank, mevrouw Kleine Zeemeermin, because I don't know about you, but mine was pink at the time.
Nice to hear some music that you found especially for me, with a little more power. That's how I like it! The surname Beckerlee doesn't sound Dutch to me. 'Bekker' would have. 'Beckerlee' seems to be Danish, FWIW. Banking business People in Britain like to keep their money safe either by depositing it in a bank or by nailing it to their front door. Today, we barge into a consultation between a couple that needs a mortgage and our own Carol Beer (woohoo!) played by David Walliams. See how she cunningly lures the couple into a financial trap: (man) - It's on the market for 80,000, which is cheap for round here. (CB) - Oh, yeah. (man) - But the estate agent reckons we can probably get them down to 75. (CB) - Sounds great, but the best mortgage for you is the MidWest First-Time Buyer Plus. (man) - Oh, yeah? (CB) - Yeah. There's a fixed rate of 4.9% over five years, and an instant cashback of £10,000. (man) - Right. (lady) - Sounds good. (man) - Yeah. (man) - We're going for that, please. (lady) - It's going to be brilliant. (man) - I can't wait. (lady) - I know. Now, have you ever wondered how they translate "Computer says no" into Swedish? Here it is. Honestly, I can't believe why a computer would adversely affect its own business, so let's rewind the tape recording to 16:52 and watch the whole story again (lasting 52 seconds). On this eighteenth day of July we definitely must pay a visit to the chart of 18-07-1970, 'cause that's where we find the new entry at number 18 in the Dutch Top 40 of Golden Earring -- Back Home. They say that some people also know this "Radar Love" song. Of course, there's an orange sleeve: ![]() If you'd rather see George Baker Selection, they're awaiting you at Gare du Nord (a new entry at number 25); they'll be pleased to sing "Midnight" for you. Please look for this sleeve to find them at the station: ![]() |

A very interesting post, Captain adriverhoef
![]() - just trying to promoted to first mate In Denmark we also use pink for piggy banks as a rule of thumb. You will like this: My father was a postman, Danish 'pillar boxes' are red, my piggy bank was a Danish 'pillar box' ![]() As were many other Danish children's. Well, I had more than one; I was brought up to be very frugal - they came as hippos and everything. But the orthodox Danish piggy bank is pink. It could be your favorite orange colour in the Netherlands, though, couldn't it ![]() Beckerlee is in no way Danish. We have Bekker and Bakker. They generally are descendants from Dutch gardeners imported centuries ago to grow vegetables on Amager - an island just east of the market: Copenhagen, and which is also called S**t Island because ![]() that's where the contens of ... well, they didn't have sewers and running water then ... and that traffic was mighty good for fast growing and healthy veggies ![]() I would think Carol Beer would have said 'Datorn säger nej' in Swedish ... so, no, I didn't know. Thank you for your orange music. One more Gasolin for you: The Siren Song - not as brash as the other, but with a fine title ![]() I found this recording from stefada's first day of training as a pilot. I think we can safely go with him ![]() |

Are you sure that's stefada on his first day of training as a pilot, mevrouw Kleine Zeemeermin? - 'cause I don't hear a French accent.
----------------------------------------Also, there's something familiar about the face of Tommy's trainer. He makes me think of ... I dunno ![]() So let's see how Carol Beer — played by David Walliams — is proceeding at the bank. We have to rewind the tape recording to 15:39 (the fragment lasting only 80 seconds, I'm afraid, but it is very instructive) to see our own Carol doing her job; included is an intro of an example how to dispose of your doggy's production during his walky-walk. Transcription: "Following the introduction of money to Britain in 1997, banks like this one were opened." (CB) So, how much money do you wanna borrow? (man) Two thousand pounds, please. (CB, typing) Two thousand pounds. (CB) Computer says no. (man) Is there anything we can do? (CB shrugs her shoulders) (man) Right, erm, well, maybe if I asked to borrow a bit less. I dunno, fifteen hundred pounds? (CB, typing) Fifteen hundred pounds. (CB) Computer says no. (man) Oh. (man) Can I have a word with the manager? (CB, typing) (CB) Computer says no. (man) So, that's it? There's nothing you can do? (CB) Give me a minute. (CB mutters quietly to the computer screen) The man says he wants to borrow two thousand pounds. (CB pauses for a moment to have a quick look at the man) (CB continues muttering quietly to the computer screen) (CB) Computer says no. (CB coughs towards the man) (man is apparently touched with tears as he tries to wipe away something from his cheek with his hand, though his eyes are still dry) I don't know if we will keep it dry tomorrow … This is the nineteenth day of July and early on in this series we went to the beach with the Dizzy Man's Band, if you still remember 03-07-1971. Today we would be getting a bit naughty, throwing a party, with T-Spoon if we are going to believe the new entry at number 21 in the Dutch Top 40 of 19-07-1997 in this tropical summertime heat. Can you believe there's a girl named Eden from Sweden? If it's winter season with you, or if it isn't, then we do something else. Do you remember Rainbow Train from a few days ago? In this band was a singer called Anita Meyer and she also had her solo career at the same time. Her first hit, The Alternative Way in 1976, went all the way to number 1. Three more solo hits were scored before she joined Rainbow Train. Then, before she scored another number 1-hit with Why Tell Me Why in 1981, without Hans Vermeulen (of Sandy Coast fame (do you remember "Summertrain"?) - who composed and produced The Alternative Way), she scored another hit in 1980. So let's look at the chart of 19-07-1980 and see the new entry at number 39 of Anita's Rock Me Up A Mountain in the Dutch Top 40. Don't forget to have a look at the sleeve of Anita's vinyl single Rock Me Up A Mountain, although we already saw it in her video: ![]() Here she spells her name Anita Meijer, by the way. After her next single, The Hurtin' Doesn't Go Away, her surname was changed back to Meyer and that was a relief for her, I guess. ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by adriverhoef at Jul 19, 2018 2:24:52 PM] |

I don't have your memory for music, Captain adriverhoef; I don't want to disappoint you either
![]() One thing I remember is that I had my expectations far up with the Dizzy Man's swim suits. And then they came down. If I was disappointed then, I shall now find all my dreams coming true with 'Sex on the Beach ' ![]() Well, stefada took an English course before joining the burger bar - knowing that pilots' language is English. Don't you think he's doing well? - Yes, the instructor reminded me of someone, too ![]() Great intro for Carol Beer: Never thought of all those Pensioners' Mercedeses!!! ![]() She did get me a bit irritated today. How does she think her employer (the Bank) will turn a profit when cmptr says NO all the time? Gasolin made this song which incidentally has become very popular at funerals Om lidt bliver her stille - In a Moment it Will be Quiet |
