Is there still value for supporting this project since so many companies are showing results for working vaccines? What is the benefit of drugs treatment when you are immune to the disease?

Vaccines are not 100% effective. The largest quoted rate with the recent announcements is 95% i.e. 5% of the population is not covered. If the population of the world is 10 billion then 5% amounts to 500 million people. I do not want to be one of the 500 million with no drugs available.
----------------------------------------Also some diseases and conditions may put the recipient of the vaccine at risk. [Edit 1 times, last edit by ca05065 at Dec 3, 2020 11:04:01 AM] |

Also, viruses mutate and make the vaccines less / not effective over time.

Is there still value for supporting this project since so many companies are showing results for working vaccines? What is the benefit of drugs treatment when you are immune to the disease? The drug treatments will still be needed for those with immune system problems that keep them from becoming immune, and for those who didn't take a vaccine in time, |

I'd rather have the treatment than vaccinces 'cause nobody knows there's any problem with these vaccines in the long run.

Understanding mRNA COVID Vaccines | Center for Disease Control
mRNA vaccines are a new type of vaccine to protect against infectious diseases. To trigger an immune response, many vaccines put a weakened or inactivated germ into our bodies. Not mRNA vaccines. instead, they teach our cells how to make a protein-or even just a piece of a protein- that triggers an immune response inside our bodies. That immune response which produces antibodies is what protects us from getting infected if the real virus enters our bodies. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/different-vaccines/mrna.html ![]() |
