Where is server status?

Just joined here after running other projects on BOINC. This one looks different. Completely different design for some reason, impossible to find anything. Where is server status for example?

Re: Where is server status?

Hi Peter,
There is no server status page.
All we get on that is a monthly update that gives you an overview of the current work unit status at that time, like this update here (see at the bottom) https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/about_us/viewNewsArticle.do?articleId=635

Re: Where is server status?

The people running this seem to like to be different. So regular BOINCers, have to relearn things or simply leave, as I will be doing shortly. I came back to crunch some of the Covid virus stuff.

Re: Where is server status?

This project existed before it even knew of BOINC, and thus it became a merge of BOINC stuff into the WCG site. Some was ported, some wasn't. Knowing how many work units are real time in the pipe is not one of them, it certainly stops those persistent update button hitters to milk the last task, and if BOINC cannot connect and says it can't reach the server, it's when you're told that the status is off-line, where BOINC checks if it's just the site or the internet.

A POV of various.

What on earth is a "persistent update button hitter"?

So what are they? I see no point in "grabbing the last tasks".

Those are people who constantly press the manual update button in an effort to get particular work units, especially those in short supply.
Cheers

Insanity. If there aren't enough of a particular type, go get some different ones surely? There are many projects with many applications in each to choose from. No point in trying to grab something which is in short supply and will therefore be done by someone else.

Not sure how these people would be stopped by a lack of server status page though.

Re: Where is server status?

Currently, the MIP, OPN1 and MCM projects have vast amounts of readily available work. If there are no tasks available for one of these projects, then something is very likely wrong on the server side.

Then you have ARP which has work available, but it's not a project for everyone since the workunits are very long and checkpoints only happen once every 12.5%.

HSTB always has very, very few workunits available. Currently, it is out of work but it will probably come back soon, judging by the history of this particular project.

SCC is paused but it should comeback in the near future.

FAAH is paused and will likely take a few months until there's work again.
