Folding at home is currently working on Covid as one of their projects. They have work units for both AMD and Nvidia GPU's.

I have been doing this. I give GPU cycles to Folding At Home, and CPU cycles to OpenPandemics. I think of it as not putting all your eggs in one basket. Everyone should win.

Too bad Folding at Home is not BOINC. It has its own pecularities, which are a refreshing change from the BOINC pecularities. You don't have to worry much about running out of work, and they download a new work unit just as the old one is finishing, so there are no buffer problems. I run both on all my machines, both Windows and Ubuntu. I use Folding on the GPUs, and then delete the Folding CPU slot (which they start up automatically). That way, I can run BOINC projects on the CPU. And I reserve a CPU core in BOINC (by using the "Use at most ___% of the CPUs" setting) in order to support the GPU, usually with a single CPU core though you can do more if needed. I have been doing it for years/decades. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Jim1348 at Jan 18, 2021 10:26:45 PM] |

Thanks guys for your replies.
I have been running both Folding@Home and OpenPademics on my desktop. Now that GPU GRID is not currently running, I have installed Folding@Home on my laptop. Clive |

Do we have any idea on when or if a statement will be released giving indication as to the day of the first GPU WU deployments?
