Re: Well it's about time for GPU work for years of delay.

Folding at home is currently working on Covid as one of their projects. They have work units for both AMD and Nvidia GPU's.

Re: Well it's about time for GPU work for years of delay.

I have been doing this. I give GPU cycles to Folding At Home, and CPU cycles to OpenPandemics. I think of it as not putting all your eggs in one basket. Everyone should win. biggrin

Too bad Folding at Home is not BOINC.

Too bad Folding at Home is not BOINC.

It has its own pecularities, which are a refreshing change from the BOINC pecularities. You don't have to worry much about running out of work, and they download a new work unit just as the old one is finishing, so there are no buffer problems.

I run both on all my machines, both Windows and Ubuntu. I use Folding on the GPUs, and then delete the Folding CPU slot (which they start up automatically). That way, I can run BOINC projects on the CPU. And I reserve a CPU core in BOINC (by using the "Use at most ___% of the CPUs" setting) in order to support the GPU, usually with a single CPU core though you can do more if needed.

I have been doing it for years/decades.

Re: Well it's about time for GPU work for years of delay.

Thanks guys for your replies.
I have been running both Folding@Home and OpenPademics on my desktop. Now that GPU GRID is not currently running, I have installed Folding@Home on my laptop.

Re: Well it's about time for GPU work for years of delay.

Do we have any idea on when or if a statement will be released giving indication as to the day of the first GPU WU deployments?
