Morning, I have device with the Computer ID: 3735274 failing to display in my devices, Also, is there any way of changing the name of the device as is seems to be showing the full host name including domain. Please could this be looked into.

It should be visible within a week so if it isn't visible by then, feel free to write a follow-up comment. Letting volunteers rename their devices is a feature we are interesting in implementing after the current issues have all been dealt with. i just sent an email to the support address listed earlier in the thread, but wanted to post here as well since it sounds like that might be hit or miss.
i added hostid 8698152 while wcg was down so it has been at least a week. as others have noted, the results appear just fine. as long as they are getting to those that need the info, that is what is important to me. thanks for your help and all the work the team did getting wcg back up and running. |

The problem I have is with Android devices. Because the devices don't show up on installation I have no way of setting the project I want to run. As some of my devices have limited memory then they get overwhelmed by MCM work units which have a much larger memory footprint and this causes the tablets to malfunction, making no progress or constantly rebooting. When IBM were running the show, new devices showed up instantly.

When IBM were running the show, new devices showed up instantly. Indeed, Pete, that was with IBM's hardware and software. Much has been written about this. Mike.Gibson wrote this four weeks ago: I never expected the hardware to be shifted to Toronto. Software - yes, but changing from Cloud storage would require re-configuration of the software. Academia is notoriously always short of funding and personnel so taking on WCG was a massive undertaking for Krembil. At least they did, for which we are grateful. I am sure they didn't know how much they were taking on, hence the length of time it has taken to get this far. Since then, they will have been operating on a shoestring and have been running everything flat out so it is not surprising that equipment failures occur. They need our support - crunching, financial and emotional! |
