Re: World Community Grid complete restart

The team is aware of the previous existence of community moderators for forums, and we understand that volunteers may have a desire to get involved with communications. We appreciate your input; however, we have found that having moderators from our communications team is currently the most effective way to maintain consistent communication between the WCG team and volunteers
Well, that is a major problem here. As there is not such thing as a "consistent communication" from the side of WCG. This has been mentioned from our side ever since the web site came back up after a 3 months hiatus, and now for a bit over 1 year.
And far too many times, all we got is nothing but platitudes instead of true, honest information. Even if that is less than positive.
And that includes the repeated (4 times by now) premature announcement that the whole project is back up and running! Only to fall flat on the face, yet again. And that is pointed out to you, in no uncertain terms, people get slapped with a moderation here in the forum as if any criticism isn't welcome and thus gets censored...
Our team does its best with limited resources to investigate and resolve issues as they arise and to provide prompt updates for volunteers. We understand that technical issues can cause frustration and we appreciate your patience, as investigating and resolving these matters takes time
Again, a less than truthful statement. The last example was that bad SCC batch. First posts of that were made by me (and at least a couple others) here in the by late Saturday, with email to your support address (which supposedly was working again, after months of inoperability) by Sunday, only to get a post by Cyclops on late Thursday or Friday that they just have been made aware of it and would "start" to look into this. Such reaction is more than frustrating, it is a slap in the face, each and every time.Far too many times you have come up with trying to put a positive spin on a <bleep>up situation in a way that would make even the most dishonest car salesman blush...

Re: World Community Grid complete restart

Ditto,
Welcome, TigerLily!

I have a question.
Talking about restarts, there are many days when ARP1-workunits aren't being released currently.
Might I ask if we can expect a full restart of ARP1 soon (without long taskless intervals) and if not, what are the current, most prevalent bottlenecks?

BTW,
Running MCM1 and SCC1 is fine, too, as long as there are enough tasks to crunch. smile

Adri

PS The name TigerLily makes me think of a 2022 song by George Ezra: "Anyone For You (Tiger Lily)". The songwords "Tiger-Lily moved to the city" resound when I read your name. biggrin

Re: World Community Grid complete restart

Hi Adri,

Thanks for your warm welcome!

The ARP team is still experiencing storage issues. The situation remains the same as detailed in our recent updates. Unfortunately, I do not have any updates with regard to when workunits might be released more frequently.

Thanks for your patience, and for contributing to other projects!

Re: World Community Grid complete restart

Hi, TigerLily.

Whilst we appreciate that there are storage problems with ARP, if you could find a little storage to run the 3 ultra extremes units, ti would save a lot of time when the storage issue is resolved.

Those 3 ultras are 79 generations behind the rest of the extremes and so will take an extra 3 months to finish after all the others.

Moving them up would reduce the time ARP would need to remain active.

Re: World Community Grid complete restart

It looks like all the projects died off. I started losing credit back around the start of May. I run everything but ARP. What's with this? The system crashed, your rebuilt it and it's as if its down again. Doesn't Krimbil have enough staff to help you? It's to bad you lost IBM.

I am still getting a full supply of MCM and SCC.

Full supply might depend on your definition.

Before the last bad SCC1 batch, I got roughly 60% MCM1 (which I do NOT have selected, should only be an "opt-in") and 40% SCC1.

Since Friday, this changed however to about 95% MCM1 and 5% SCC1 since.

Ans still crickets from WCG Tower...

Weird, I'll reset the project.
That did nothing.

Re: World Community Grid complete restart

Greg I often get that but persistence does pay. I get enough to keep all threads working with a cache of 12 MCM & 12 SCC.
