2023-10-27 Update (Weekend work unit availability)

Ahead of the weekend, here is an update on work unit supply. MCM1 supply is steady. OPNG supply is limited to a fixed rate by the project scientists, so supply spikes 4 times per day, then drops in between. Currently, no new work is available for SCC1.

Thanks for your continued support!

Re: 2023-10-27 Update (Weekend work unit availability)

"Steady supply of MCM" as defined by what?

I just tried getting WUs; I got ONE MCM1, and that was it. Retried for about 15 minutes, and nothing. "No jobs are available."

Update: 15 WUs downloaded @ 6:57pm...1 WU downloaded 7:10pm...2 WU downloaded 7:12pm. So 15 minutes to get 18 WUs. This is not normal at all, whether it is a supply issue or a tech issue.

11 WUs @ 1102pm US Central Time; "No Tasks Available" at 11:04pm and 11:07pm; 1 @ 11:09pm; 4 @ 11:11pm; 1 @ 11:14pm.

On Oct 28, 2023: Requested WUs at 8:37 am; received 11 WUs at 8:46 (!) Then at 1:33pm, "No Tasks Available" for any project. At 1:40pm I got two WUs. (My max is set at 25 for MCM, which is all I'm getting these days). At 1:42pm I get "No tasks available". At 1:47pm, following a manual update request, I get 15 WUs.

In case it matters, I'm running a Win10 box with a 1TB drive, 32 Gb RAM, so data storage and memory to run work isn't an issue.

Steady enough so my queues remain full.

Re: 2023-10-27 Update (Weekend work unit availability)

I'm getting plenty of new MCMs but I note that not many are being removed from my Results list. Most now seem to be validated, the oldest one being on Oct 16. I now have four times the number on the list compared to my norm.

Same here. They are probably having some trouble with their purge function, or they extended the amount of time they wish to keep these units before they purge them. Without any communication from the powers that be, we will remain in the dark about the issue.

Re: 2023-10-27 Update (Weekend work unit availability)

I have my cache set to 24 units and have an 8 thread machine. I am getting a fairly steady resupply, but sometimes get the other platforms message. I seem to be maintaining a cache of at least 22. That is a steady enough supply.

A lot is wrong with WCG, but the current supply of WUs in general certainly is not one of those issues.
Have a constant supply of MCM1 WUs, together with a light sprinkling of OPNG, none of my host seems to be in danger of running dry for now...

Re: 2023-10-27 Update (Weekend work unit availability)

It is high time now, to start purging finished MCM tasks, before WCG runs out of storage space, and the project comes to a grinding halt. I have lots of MCM tasks, that's been finished by both wingmen, and validated many days ago. The oldest ones going back more than 2-weeks.

The purging of OPNG tasks though, seems to work as expected.
