Re: 2023-10-27 Update (Weekend work unit availability)

It is high time now, to start purging finished MCM tasks, before WCG runs out of storage space, and the project comes to a grinding halt. I have lots of MCM tasks, that's been finished by both wingmen, and validated many days ago. The oldest ones going back more than 2-weeks.
The purging of OPNG tasks though, seems to work as expected.

My oldest ones were validated on Oct. 14.
Cheers

Well, that is the date for the last "deep dive". That "clean up" job hasn't been running ever since the system came back up...

Steady supply of MCM" as defined by what?

Steady enough so my queues remain full.
Cheers
A lot is wrong with WCG, but the current supply of WUs in general certainly is not one of those issues.
Have a constant supply of MCM1 WUs, together with a light sprinkling of OPNG, none of my host seems to be in danger of running dry for now...

Raff, if you feel like this you can always move to another project no one is keeping you here

Thanks for the update. I believe the team does a wonderful job at keeping things operational with the resources they have considering they also manage the MCM project. I am aware everybody will have their own views on this.

what are their resources?

I don't know what hardware they have to run the project, maybe a bit of choice of words would have been "manpower"

Re: 2023-10-27 Update (Weekend work unit availability)

That's interesting, given on Nov. 1 I just spent 22 minutes trying to get a whopping 12 WUs. And those all game from using the BOINC manual update button, not automatically from an empty queue.

It's been like this since at least Oct. 29th; repeated manual requests must be made to get anything in most cases. A few surprise downloads netted me 16-20 at one time since the 29th, but the majority were the old "keep hitting the update button until something happens" issue WCG suffered before. . I can't even fill my queue.

Why should Ralf have to leave for speaking the truth?? He wants to run WUs as the rest of us do, and is dissatisfied with the state of the project, the bad attempts to communicate with volunteers, and the continued technical nightmares.

I find that interesting. I have had no trouble keeping my queues filled on both Windows and Linux without any intervention on my part.

Cheers
