I see 63 current members over there at SuperBytes Belgium. ...snip... Yes, but 2 of them came in today, so if we treat them the same as UserFriendly, we count the day but also give them the recruits they gained today, too. Just trying to be consistent here. Hope there is no disagreement. Cheers. Bill Velek |

This is the data and standings I compute for our teams EARLY today, Feb. 9th, using the formula that I thought would be fair:
----------------------------------------BitBenderTech (BBT): started 2/2 with 36 current members = (38-36)/(9-2)/36= 0.0079 HomeBrewers (HB): started 2/2 with 33 current members = (39-33)/(9-2)/33= 0.0260 SuperBytesBelgium (SBB): started 2/8 with 61 current members = (63-61)/(9-8)/61= 0.0328 UserFriendly (UF): started 2/1 with 160 current members = (215-160)/(9-1)/160= 0.0430 VultureCentralIII (VC3): started 2/7 with 23 current members = (23-23)/(9-7)/23= 0.0000 However, I notice that this immediately puts SBB, with just 2 recruits, ahead of HB with 6 recruits. I don't really have a problem with that, since there are still quite a few days left in the month, but it does illustrate how the results can be skewed when different teams participate for different lengths of time. In other words, if we permit a team to join on the last day, and that team happens to recruit more on that one day than other teams have averaged for their entire time, then they'd win. That's not fair. I guess the best way to do it is to get teams to sign up in advance, and have all of them start at the same time. We can do that in a future race. Cheers. Okay Bill. No worries. I thought you started at the beginning of the month, that's all.

Duhhhh! But the biggest pain is the width of this thread; am I the only one who needs to use horizontal scroll. Here is an updated link showing all current participating teams. I don't need a scroll because that link I posted as-is is breaking to the next line after some of the % signs. If not, that could be causing the scroll problem.Cheers. Bill Velek P.S. Will someone PLEASE help me fix this line-wrapping problem? Thanks. Here it is again: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/stat/viewCo...p;teamNames%5B7%5D.value= This screen is set to 1024x768, and that link appears on four lines. If you are not sure, I could post an original link from Boerni's statistics box if you want. It's a 362 character link and doesn't have as many natural breaks in it. That makes a NASTY right scroll.

My screen is set to to the same resolution -- 1024 x 768 -- and the link appears as one long line. ![]() Okay. I just opened the same screen with Internet Explorer, and it is wrapping the lines. I normally use Netscape, and it is NOT wrapping them for some reason. Cheers. Bill Velek [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 9, 2006 3:39:16 PM] |

Okay, I'll have a stab at giving the current rankings:
BitBenderTech (BBT): started 2/2 with 36 current members = (39-36)/(11-2)/36= 0.0096 HomeBrewers (HB): started 2/2 with 33 current members = (39-33)/(11-2)/33= 0.0202 SuperBytesBelgium (SBB): started 2/8 with 61 current members = (64-61)/(11-8)/61= 0.0164 UserFriendly (UF): started 2/1 with 160 current members = (232-160)/(11-1)/160= 0.0450 VultureCentralIII (VC3): started 2/7 with 23 current members = (23-23)/(11-7)/23= 0.0000 |

Okay, I'll have a stab at giving the current rankings: We're stuck on 23, but the vultures are the most consistent team out here. Zero. Point. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero.BitBenderTech (BBT): started 2/2 with 36 current members = (39-36)/(11-2)/36= 0.0096 HomeBrewers (HB): started 2/2 with 33 current members = (39-33)/(11-2)/33= 0.0202 SuperBytesBelgium (SBB): started 2/8 with 61 current members = (64-61)/(11-8)/61= 0.0164 UserFriendly (UF): started 2/1 with 160 current members = (232-160)/(11-1)/160= 0.0450 VultureCentralIII (VC3): started 2/7 with 23 current members = (23-23)/(11-7)/23= 0.0000

Another random progress update:
BitBenderTech (BBT): started 2/2 with 36 current members = (41-36)/(13-2)/36= 0.0126 HomeBrewers (HB): started 2/2 with 33 current members = (39-33)/(13-2)/33= 0.0165 SuperBytesBelgium (SBB): started 2/8 with 61 current members = (66-61)/(13-8)/61= 0.0164 UserFriendly (UF): started 2/1 with 160 current members = (240-160)/(13-1)/160= 0.0417 VultureCentralIII (VC3): started 2/7 with 23 current members = (23-23)/(13-7)/23= 0.0000 BBT making gains, HB no new members since last update, SBB holding steady, UF falling behind (but still in the lead). VC3 have yet to score. |
