Hi in both XP and gentoo linux I'm getting connection errors. I decided to try it today from windows though had already installed onto linux the boinc client. (if it matters I'm using an AMD64 3100+ with 512M ram... native 64bit with 32 bit emulation in unix and 32bit windows xp)
Anyways... If I change things in my firewall it makes no difference. I tried once giving it the wrong password to see if anything changed. Yes the error message did it obviously connected to know I had given it the wrong password. The right password got me a server connection error. SMC doesn't exaclty have the greatest doccumentation on setup of somethings. Other setup sites use different web interface through the browser than SMC's. So not sure if something is still wrong that way. I tried setting up under nat "virtual host" that didn't work. I tried setting it up with the applicable ports(80,443) under "special applications"(that's where limewire is set). Nope that made no difference. So right now I'm stuck unable to work on anything as it keeps erroring trying to get at the server to get the packets. Anyone dealing with similar issues or know a fix? |

I'm afraid I know nothing about SMC.
Please will you paste the actual connection errors BOINC is giving you? |

When we looked closer (over on UF) it turned out that gentoo was reporting 64bits, and WCG was turning it down. Does anyone know anything about Linux 32bit emulation modes? I haven't a clue.
The XP problem is pending further enquiry. |

The XP problem turned out to be a UD problem, fixed by "upgrading" to BOINC.
I have no idea what caused the UD error. The precise error is: "Unable to connect to Grid Server. Please try again. If you are using a proxy server please verify your settings with your system administrator." when Celticess attempted to register the device. Anyone have any ideas? |
