When I put my posting up there 2 days ago that was the current completion percentage. Not 30% as you have posted 2 days later groovestix.
----------------------------------------Doesn't matter what the percentage is to me until the project says 100%!!!! Only then will we be happy to move onto another project. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 12, 2006 3:16:44 AM] |

And remember, part of Phase 2 is selecting 'Top Hits' from the 500,000 compunds in the Chembridge set to run against the 270 varieties in the Mutant HIV Protease Panel in Phase 3. Lawrence, Will we be crunching anything else during phase 3? Perhaps top hits from the NCI & Chembridge sets against monomeric HIV? Any word about other protein targets (like integrase or gp41 or gp120)? Jeff |

----------------------------------------You're upset because I posted the right percentage? By the way, does anybody know how many stages are there for this project? ~ Mr. GrooveStix [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 14, 2006 3:28:33 PM] |

By the way, does anybody know how many stages are there for this project? All this is somewhat variable. It depends on how things go and on what is discovered. Research needs to stay flexible to rapidly adapt to opportunities and road blocks. Breaking things up into phases gives us known goals. Well, fairly well known. We started phase 2 before we knew how many 'Top Hits' the analysis of Phase 1 results would yield. So I am not making any predictions about all that will be shoved into phase 3. Stick around and we will find out together! ![]() Lawrence |

Does this still correlate well with Larry Fine's prediction of late August/early September end date? (see earlier in post) Will Not counting the processing for the "Top Hits" it should take Phase 2 about 11,000 years of processing (when using the processing times of Phase 1a and 1b as a guide). The big unknown element is the "Top Hits." Depending how much processing the "Top Hits" requires this could extend the processing time of Phase 2 from a few hundred years to several thousand. This portion of Phase 2 is so unknown right now not even a ball park guess can be made as to how long this portion will take. Also, with the CPU throttle down to 60% default feature now encoded in the grid software total daily processing times have dropped, a September or October completion timeframe is possible. It might be earilier (although unlikely) and perhaps past October (somewhat likely). |

largethunder You're upset because I posted the right percentage? By the way, does anybody know how many stages are there for this project? ~ Mr. GrooveStix No groovestix not in the least bit upset. I think you just need to recoginize that at the time I posted the pie chart that was the current percentage done. Unlike the pie chart you posted 2 days later. In any case as long as we finish this project to move onto the next one I don't care if we go from 5% one day to 100% 2 days later as long as we get the this project done and are able to move onto the next one!!! |

FightAIDS@Home ( http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/ ) updated on 18 August 2006 to say 40% completion of Stage 2.

OK this is a very rough estimate based on percentage jumps and dates only. From reading earlier posts in this thread...
----------------------------------------Phase 2 jumped from 4% to 15% around June 15th (no throttle) It jumped again from 15% to 30% around July 11th (maybe throttle?) It jumped again from 30% to 40% around August 18th (throttle) So...we'll be conservative and round a bit...and we complete about 10% of phase 2 every 30 days or so? That would put completion of phase 2 in about Feb, 2007? ![]() Phase 1a is similar to processing the Top Hits in Phase 2 so if they have 1,900 Top Hits similar to the number of molecules in Phase 1a it could take almost 9,700 years of processing to just do the Top Hits, but the exact number of Top Hits is still unknown. If there are a LOT of top hits from phase 1 that would account for the current pace of the project. We have to dock each of those hits against the 270 mutations of HIV. The top hits were selected from the NCI set of 230,000 compounds. (I'm just throwing out numbers here now - I have no basis for these numbers:) Even if only 5% of those were the top hits, that's 11,500 compounds against 270 variations of HIV, with a quorum of three. That's a lot of processing...considering it took 9700 years to dock 1900 compounds against the mutant HIV panel. [Edit 6 times, last edit by we45dfa35gh3476 at Aug 20, 2006 1:59:57 AM] |
